Hi Lake,
Is the group for young entrepreneurs? What kind of format are you looking at?

Greetings Evan,
The goal of this group:
Members of the group will network with each other for the purpose of helping each other with any problems they might be having, purchasing products/services from other members, discussion of relevant issues, referring network (if one of the member in the group has a client/customer that is seeking a service/product that another member offers he/she will provide a referral. - I believe this can become a very powerful way of generating business).
I am open to anyone in the GTA area being involved in this group. I am seeking to meet with Entrepreneurs who want to network for the purpose of creating an atmosphere where seller (group member X) and customers (Group member Y) can meet or be referred to each other by other members in the group. We can help each other create business.

It's a great idea Lake!
We run a series of Mastermind Groups for Toronto entrepreneurs and one thing I've found is that entrepreneurs can never get enough help when starting out a business. It's hard to do it all alone and others are usually more than happy to lend a hand.
Good luck with your group!

What exactly is a mastermind group? I have heard that term many times but I am wondering if it is any different than a regular business networking group? What is unique, pros/cons? Has anyone been involved in a group in Canada tat can shed some light?
Thanks!

Hi Shimmy,
Mastermind groups are set up for entrepreneurs to come together and share their challenges with other small business owners. The purpose is to get suggestions and feedback to help overcome your challenges and have an informal board of advisors to push you to achieve your goals.
Business networking groups are usually more to meet new people and try and land new sales. Mastermind groups (the good ones) are not sales focused but instead try to help entrepreneurs get over their hurdles.
If you want more information I recently set up a Mastermind Group Blog that talks about strategies for making a mastermind group work.

I love the ideas Evan and Lake. It's impossible to put a value on the help I got from friends, family, and other entrepreneurs when I was getting my company started. It wouldn't have been possible without them. Join as many groups as you can!
Jennifer.

Greetings Friends,
I would like to open with the following message with my understanding of a MASTERMIND GROUP (Evan has also given an excellent comprehensive view).
" Napoleon Hill coined the concept of the mastermind alliance in his classic book Think and Grow Rich. He believed that a group of like-minded, achievement-oriented individuals could dramatically leverage each other's success."
Everything is a vibration of Energy (quantum fluctuations) and when liked mined people work together the Synergy they can create is extraordinary (in a positive or negative way).
If you have not read this wonderful book, please follow this link to it:

WARNING: DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE THE SIMPLICITY OF WHAT THE AUTHOR IS PRESENTING. SEARCH DEEP WITHIN TO UNDERSTAND THAT ALL THINGS ARE TRUELY SIMPLE AND YOUR GOAL IS TO INTERNALIZE THE AUTHORS TEACHINGS.
Again I extend a welcome to anyone who would like to meet with me and formulate and mastermind group.
Lake

Greetings,
I response to your question, this group is different from what Mr. Carmichael is doing, as we focus more on networking for the purpose of referring business/client to each other.
One of the big problems new businesses face is acquiring clients and through these networking events we meet other Entrepreneurs who have clients who we can provide our services to.
Thank you
Lake
