Home Based Business Opportunities that Put the Salesman to Use

As everyone knows, the kind of business a person goes into depends heavily on what their natural skills and abilities are. Those who are good at organizing and overseeing people benefit most in management positions. Others excel in matters of physical labor and craftsmanship, and they tend to do excellently in home service and cleaning industries, both owning and operating their businesses by themselves. Still others display their greatest skill in persuading others to a certain course of action, and these folks tend to be perfectly suited for product sales.

Though it can often be overlooked as a viable career, or seen as a less-than-admirable one, sales is actually one of the most profitable businesses out there. And really it isn’t an isolated business at all: every industry has some aspect of sales included in it, and only the best salesmen profit in that. If you’re a great salesman looking for a franchise opportunity that will put your specific talents to best use, here are a few franchises that will do just that.

Vehicle Tracking Solutions
There aren’t many businesses that provide the services that Vehicle Tracking Solutions does: selling GPS tracking equipment to American companies for use in their 20 million corporate vehicles. Within a designated sales territory, the franchisee with this business is responsible for approaching potential clients with a franchisor-provided presentation about the product. Because this tool is so useful for clients who need to keep abreast of where their delivery vehicles and executive cars are, it’s not a tough sell. And with revenue streaming in for the franchisee from initial sales as well as ongoing subscriptions to the network that maps and records where the vehicles go, money flows in at all times. Among the handful of companies across the country that do this kind of work, VTS is the only franchise business, so this is the entrepreneurial salesman’s one opportunity to get in on this vast market that is, to date, only 7% tapped.

TVME Inc.
Television Music Entertainment is a one-of-a-kind home based business opportunity for the talented salesman. Approaching the entertainment and hospitality industry, franchisees have exclusive rights to sell the TVME touch-screen entertainment system, which houses over 450,000 songs and nearly every music video filmed in the last 40 years. Even if the average restaurant owner possessed that many songs and videos in a personal collection, there is no single computer system that could hold it all (it would take roughly 1.5tb just to contain the music collection, apart from the videos). The only way it can be done, and the way that TVME does it, is by linking purchased equipment to a central media hub that narrowcasts to subscribers, making this both an amazing system and a fairly self-selling item. And its sales can only be enhanced by a talented salesman.

Air Advantage
This work from home sales franchise does most of its business by way of marketing plans that are broader than simple sales presentations or door-to-door selling, but that doesn’t mean that it isn’t a good fit for someone who knows how to communicate with a specific demographic, because one specific demographic is the lifeblood of this company: rural America. Already established in much of Michigan’s northern countryside, Air Advantage franchisees provide wireless internet to Americans who aren’t close enough to urban areas to otherwise receive it. This is the sales opportunity for anyone who can sell internet connectivity to enough people in a rural area to justify the installation of a cell tower as well as a business.

The Love Maine Lobster Claw
Few sales business opportunities come along that are truly fun for franchisee and client alike, but this is one of them. A home business, The Love Main Lobster isn’t like any of these other businesses right for a salesman, because instead of the consumer, the person that needs to be sold on this interesting breed of vending machine is the owner of the shop at which the machine is located. The reason that might be a tricky sale is entirely wrapped up in the machine, which is combination between an arcade claw game and a live lobster tank at a supermarket. Customers pay $2 to control the claw that, hopefully, grabs the live lobster of their choice from the tank. Customers love the game because it’s fun, challenging, and strange. Franchisees love this profitable and quirky machine because convincing a location owner of its value is fun, challenging, and strange.

Salesmanship may be an underappreciated art, but it is an art and a necessary piece of the business puzzle any way you look at it. Without people who are talented enough to persuade clients to purchase products that they need, sales would never be sufficient to justify continued product production and continued business. There are many large corporate powers that need good salesmen, but there are just as many great business opportunities in the franchise sector that give the chance to make sales and do so for the development of your own business. So never short-change yourself and your abilities.
