Business Opportunities in Franchise

The franchise business has recently been attracting more and more people, everyday. After all, isn’t the idea of running your own business and being control of your own career, incredibly appealing? Franchise is usually first introduced to many of these hopeful franchisees by their friends, colleagues or even family members. The ones that are usually the most successful after entering the franchise world are usually the ones most aware of which brand names are the best as well as which franchises they should become a part of. It’s a given that no one wants to invest his or her life savings in a business that will end before its even begun. That’s why before looking at franchise opportunities, be sure to take the time to ask successful business owners for advice and to learn from their expertise in the field.

Although getting franchise opportunities may not be the easiest thing in the world, it doesn’t have to be an impossible task, either. Having experience is always a plus but that doesn’t mean that it’s an absolute necessity. Experience working in a certain franchise, say like a fast food restaurant belonging to an international chain, can certainly be beneficial in terms of realizing the ability of such a franchise to succeed and make a profit. After seizing a franchise opportunity, you can get the most out of what little knowledge and experience you have to achieve great success. After all, you already know your clientele, what appeals to them and what doesn’t, so what’s left to ponder? In fact, it might even be a good idea to seek an opportunity in the franchise you were previously involved in.

The potential for success is limitless, between introducing the chain into a small town where similar restaurants are scarce or even introducing an entirely new style of restaurants, while maintaining the brand name. After all, good company and good food are a few of things that everyone can find pleasure in, no matter who or where they are.

So before starting the hunt for franchise opportunities, make sure you understand what you really want and where the greatest potential for success lies. Ask business owners for honest depictions of both the good and the bad sides of the business and always keep their advice in the back of your mind because you never know when it’ll come in handy. Accept the fact that you’re not likely to become a rich entrepreneur overnight, so be patient and concentrate on putting as much effort as you can into achieving success, no matter how long it may take and no matter how bumpy the road may be, at first. You will definitely not regret all that hard work when you start reaping the benefits, so what are waiting for? Go out there, find the opportunity which is your calling and tackle it down once and for all.

Re: Info for would be franchisers... Re: Info for would be franchisers... -
Like Franchise Times, Franchise Update is a very practical magazine. There is no blah blah, just straight facts that anyone in the franchise community can relate to. I just want to mention that all these magazines are NOT franchisee oriented. I mean these magazines are for franchise professionals. If you're looking to buy a franchise, you won't find much information in there. To answer your question, getting published in Franchise Times was fairly easy. I don't want to brag too much but I think I am known in the franchise industry. I was the marketing guy at Franchise.com for a few years before joining my new company, the World Franchising Network. So people know me and I have a very good relationship with Nancy Weingartner, the Managing Editor at Franchise Times. I was talking with her at the last Franchise Expo South in Miami and she mentioned she'd like me to be profiled. I was like "ok, sure!". I like this franchise executive profile thing in Franchise Times as it is rarely BS. People are usually really natural in there.[/quote:1d29sdv1] Thanks for the follow up Sebastien! And I can't say that I'm surprised that networking with the right people and managing your relationships with them properly are the keys to being published. I guess the old adage holds true of "it's not who you know, but who knows you" that's important.
how much for a franchise fee? how much for a franchise fee? - Dear Colleague There is no easy answer to this question. Things to consider:
The sizeof the Franchise Clent base Expected Turnover Intellectual Property costs (recoup) Number of Franchises Number of employees Original Set up costs Franchise admin costs An example: A franchise that I was involved in setting was to a simple "lawn mowing/home repair" franchise. The Franchise included national/local advertising - preparation of client lists - general admin - central accounting etc The Franchise involved 300-500 clients - and an annual turnover of about $300,000 . The annual franchise fee was $30,000. Hope that this gives you some idea Take care Ian
Fed rate cuts . . . Fed rate cuts . . . - So just what do the newest Fed rate cuts mean to Franchise and Business Opportunity investing? Is it immediately felt? What timeframe do you think, or rather, where are we in terms of new vs. existing business investment? A similar question can be composed for the economic stimulus checks - will they a have any effect if consumers spend a little $$
