How do you feel about getting tax breaks?

Stephen Harper may not be able to break wooden boards as well as some of us in the martial arts community, but his breaks when it comes to taxes are something we can hold a mutual respect with him for.

What are you getting?

The fitness benefit itself would double the current rebate a parent can receive, from $75 to $150 dollars. This is done by doubling the amount a parent can claim for their child's activities from $500 to $1000.

In addition, Harper plans to extend the $500 benefit to adults, so they too have incentive to act on their dreams of grandeur as they watch their children play sports. We know that some of you imagine how good you would be in the ring or on the field (hopefully against other adults), so this might be something to consider alongside your thoughts of personal health and longevity as you build your future into something to be proud of.

When can you expect it?

Like our kung-fu and martial arts masters, who encourage us to develop a keen sense of balance in the ring, Harper has decided that this benefit should be extended our way no sooner than when the budget is balanced (2015 by some estimates I believe). So while some of us are upset that we don't get our goodies NOW (which I believe is not a virtue we learn as martial artists), others see a responsible decision with promising benefits to millions of families throughout Canada. When can you expect it?

How we feel about encouraging fitness:

Being alive really is a valuable experience, so along with this tax break we want to remind our readers (both Canadian and internationally) that you shouldn't pass up the opportunity to experience martial arts philosophy and learn new martial arts skills to add to your portfolio of life. Your health, your personality and your outlook on life all stand to gain from new experiences such as this.

Who qualifies?

An expert panel will decide which sports qualify for the new benefits, but I feel assured by the martial artists all throwing karate chops in the background as he made one of these announcements on television that our SKF members will qualify.

When we are young our visions are quite different from when we are older. Though I have been on an amazing journey since I was twelve, I haven't put faith in numbers when it comes to age. My belief that each moment of our lives is a new beginning has allowed me to possess an innovative mentality in my endeavours. I am very much deeply involved in my journey and this has made me very confident in who I am and what I have to share with my followers around the world.

As in most sports, I believe that there is a championship in life. Considering how frequently we encounter obstacles that require courage, self-discipline, self-confidence, knowledge and will-power, it is a process of victories and defeats. We all want victories in our lives, so we should learn to face the obstacles that lay before us without hesitation. We must own our obstacles, lest they own us.

By starting my first martial arts school at the age of 21, I was able to found the basis for my future as a mentor of all the values found in martial arts. I have been working for 39 years since, involved in many different sports, studying many new styles of martial arts, and participating in many international courses and educational programs. By constantly studying and researching valuable areas such as general management, business management, psychology, physiology, human anatomy, communications, biomechanics, and the elements of mind, body and spirit (holistic fitness), I have been able to create a step-by-step self-improvement program based on my knowledge. This program conveys a life of dedicated research by conveniently depicting how my students and followers can improve their lifestyles through martial arts training. Students will learn how to recognize important benefits and values such as confidence, discipline, self-control, patience, leadership and goal-setting. How these values can come from martial arts training and become implemented into a human lifestyle at any age group for both males and females is one of our major elements.

How do you refresh yourself? How do you refresh yourself? - I feel that the only way to work to my full potential is if I take breaks. If I don't then my mind usually tends to wander and completing any tasks on hand takes twice as long. For breaks I'll usually go outside, walk my dog, get a bite to eat, listen to music, clean, watch a movie, take a nap or hang out with friends. =)
Re: Adrian Fernandez - GH Caskets Re: Adrian Fernandez - GH Caskets - Thank you for making me feel welcome. I've been reading various topics and it looks like there is a wealth of knowledge here that many of us can benefit from. Let me ask this: What did it feel like when you finally quit your 9 to 5 job to focus on your own business? I'm still doing the 9 to 5 and I'm working on my own business before work, during breaks and lunch, weekends, etc. I can already envision the day when I can focus full time on my business.
Re: QUESTION - What's your #1 way to beat stress? Re: QUESTION - What's your #1 way to beat stress? - Great post Evan and a subject that is applicable not only to Internet Entrepreneurs but anyone who is sat at a PC. I know that it’s a legal requirement here in the UK that employers must make provision for staff to have a 15 minute DSE break every two and three quarter hours and sometimes people have to be reminded to walk away from their PC. This poses the question that GT mentioned when talking about finishing what you are doing because I am a little like that as well. When you are working from home or for yourself in any business, who tells you to take a break ?? I try to find time most days (weather permitting) to take the bike out for a spin just to clear my head a bit and is something I rediscovered after many years in the corporate world when I just couldn’t seem to fit it in. I also enjoy lots of different types of music from rock and roll and 60’s pop to traditional jazz, blue grass and someone bang up to date like Adele who I think is fabulous and is huge over here but I really like anything that is done well. My idea of a perfect time out is to clip my Ipod to my ‘T’ shirt and take off for an hour but I must admit that I rarely do it until the end of the day. During the day when I am training, breaks are not a problem because I am mostly working with a projector and breaks are built in but I still have to discipline myself to take a DSE break in the evening or at weekends when I am working at home. regards, Mal.
Re: How long can you stay away from your Computer? Re: How long can you stay away from your Computer? - It would appear that many of the entrepreneurs in this forum earn a living online, so I'd like to ask: How many hours at a time do you spend working in front of your computers? In addition, how do you prevent eye fatigue? and how long are your breaks in between computer usage? Thanks
Re: Moderators on vacation Re: Moderators on vacation - Hi Tanny Great to see you back again and hope you are all rested and ready to work until your next break. It's lovely to be able to take breaks and come back refreshed and energized. Annely I hope you are feeling better, just don't overdo it until you are 100% again. MichelleJ
