Audi Franchise to further expand in India; eyes 30% of luxury car market, through franchising

"Currently, we have 11 dealerships in major cities. We will be soon appointing new dealers in Lucknow, Jaipur, Coimbatore and Nagpur," Audi India MD Benoit Tiers told reporters. The company has entered into dealer partnership with Bangalore-headquartered Jubilant Motors for appointing dealers in Southern market.K Subramanian, CEO Jubilant Motors, a franchisee of Audi said they have an exclusive showroom in Bangalore and their second dealership franchise in Chennai was expected to be operational by first quarter of 2010. "We have invested close to Rs 12 crore for the Chennai dealership," he added. Apart from increasing its dealership networks, the car maker had also planned to increase its market share over the next two years, Tiers said. Audi currently holds 20 per cent share in Indian luxury car segment and has targeted to reach 30 per cent by 2011, Benoit Tiers said. Terming their growth in the country as "sustainable", Tiers said, "in the last five months alone we have grown by 57 per cent."

Re: Are Economic Recessions Good for Franchising? - well, I can't give you any verified stats at the moment. But, it's a fact that as more and more people face layoffs they look in the direction of franchising. These are folks that need the security of a proven business model and have resources to jump into a franchise. It's a clear trend that has been witnessed in past recessions. My concern is that we are not in a simple recession... If you look at a recession as a big storm that will create some havoc and disrupt lives, then the events we're facing in the near future could be a supersized hurricane. We're heading into uncharted waters. High fuel costs, which will probably fluctuate for a while then jump again High debt loads... now in the trillions Sinking housing market... how low will it go? The US war machine is in full swing... with eyes on IRAN All of these factors are clashing to create the Perfect Storm and I don't like it one bit. I tell ya, there's a bunch of madmen at the helm. So how does this bode for franchising? jeez... I don't know... I'm gonna get myself a double scotch on the rocks. Cheers.
Franchising to expand - I think franchising is one of the best ways to expand a business. You don't have venture capital or other investors to worry about and you empower your franchisees because they are running their own businesses. Now if I can only get it to work for me!
Any franchising horror story? - I am always writing about the benefits of franchising in this forum. Although I don't own a franchise I do believe in franchising is a great business model. Do any of you have horror stories to share about franchising?
Franchisng - This is a ll excellent information. I guess I am in a limbo about this. I have a great business that has the potential to be an a amazing franchise. But I am bogged down with the day to day work that franchising seems overwhelming. I also don't know if I actually want to take the risk to expand. Do you tamper with a model that works well?
