Yontrakit JV serves niche market for Mitsuoka cars Franchise

Guest post by: Dhawal Shah

Article Overview: The little-known Japanese auto company Mitsuoka Motors, a specialist in painstakingly handmade cars, and the Thai auto franchisee, Yontrakit Corporation have announced plans for a joint venture. The new entity will produce the Mitsuoka niche car brand in Thailand. The two companies will sign a franchisee agreement next Wednesday at a Bangkok hotel, said a statement from Yontrakit. Yontrakit apart from Mitsuoka, is also runs car dealerships for Audi and KIA.

The statement, however, did not give details about the venture's holdings, production capacity or car models.
Mitsuoka's Himiko roadster is expected to be the first model off the Thai assembly plant. Mitsuoka cars built in Thailand will be destined for both local and international markets, especially within Asean through the regional free trade scheme. A lot of Thai cars are being exported to Nepal. There are several automobile franchisees in Nepal. Based on recent reports on Franchising in Nepal, it is definitely flourishing.
The Japanese cars are now marketed in Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong and the UAE. The signing follows a letter of intent in early 2008 to collaborate on a future business in Thailand and conduct a study on assembling Mitsuoka cars here.
At the same time, Yontrakit was appointed as Mitsuoka's exclusive local importer and distributor with two models initially offered for sale _ the Galue luxury saloon and the Orochi sports car. The Galue comes in 2.5- or 3.5-litre versions at 3.89 and 6.98 million baht, respectively. The Orochi has a 3.2-litre engine and costs 11.7 million baht. Since their debut, Yontrakit has received orders for about one car a month.
Both models are displayed at Yontrakit's first showroom on Rama IX Road.
If the new venture proceeds as planned, Thailand will become Mitsuoka's production base outside Japan.
Mitsuoka is the first Japanese car marque handled by Yontrakit, which specialises in European and South Korean car brands.
A Yontrakit source said Mitsuoka cars would likely be built at the company's Thai Pradit assembly plant in Bangkok's Lat Krabang district, which now serves as a pre-delivery inspection centre for imported vehicles.
Mitsuoka's Himiko is a convertible roadster with a 1930s retro look. The source said it would likely be built in Thailand this year and sold in Asean markets to cash in on the trade block's preferential tariff system.
Yontrakit has been in a business alliance with Mitsuoka for several years through Advance Automobile, Yontrakit's subsidiary in Singapore that distributes Mitsuoka cars in the city-state.
Yontrakit also owns the franchise to distribute Spyker handmade supercars from the Netherlands, which retail from 30 million baht onwards.

Re: Starting a Online T-shirt Company Re: Starting a Online T-shirt Company - I recently started a tshirt printing and embroidery business. We are still in a start up phase but have already found out how important your niche is. We spent a lot of time finding our niche, our customers and how we would reach them. As soon as we attempted to market to our niche we found several flaws in our marketing plan. Luckily we were also able to talk to some people in our related niche and got some excellent ideas on how to market our products. I would suggest that you think about who you are going to sell to, where they buy their clothes now, who your competition is and how do they market to their customers. Then do a test marketing to see if it works. During the test of our marketing is when we found out it would take way too much time and money to market the way we had planned. Now we are marketing to a different market but with the same end customer. An example would be wanting to sell t-shirts with sport team logos. The market appears to be the sports fan. But when you look at marketing to all the sports fans in the country, state, county or school, you will find it very expensive and impractical. But if you have a unique enough of a design you can market it to the sports stores or concession stands and have them sell it to the sports fan. Yes, the money may be less, but the profit will be higher as you will sell more shirts than you could on your own.
Re: Service Or Product? Re: Service Or Product? - Thanks GT, been there and done that as is said in an overused cliche just as hauling around 18/8 stainless steel pots and panes, Kirby vacuums, Tupperware, Bibles, etc. Notice my load got lighter Now I just to Service online, information, ebooks, articles etc. Works for me Agree with Michelle, however any niche remains a niche unless you can break it out of the niche and make a market for it
Licensing and Exclusivity Licensing and Exclusivity - Is it better to receive a license from a company to provide a product to a certain region before of after your company is established? Ex. XYZ is a small company that manufactures cars and sells them in Europe and I want to get their cars licensed from them and be the sole provider of their flying cars in Asia. So would it be better for me to establish a company first or first get the licensing then build the company after? Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Re: Online Teen Magazine... Tips Re: Online Teen Magazine... Tips - [quote="mathew":238ajid7]I think there are huge numbers of teens nowadays who are interested in entrepreneurship, like myself, though not really enough just yet to start a magazine just for this group. I like akula's ideas about gearing it towards the popular social network sites, you could definitely make something out of that![/quote:238ajid7] I was going to say the same thing. Your best bet is to find a niche market that 1. caters to teens 2. is based on that one niche market. That will help a lot with advertisers as well as readers. You have a lot of competitors and this is one way of going around them.
