Use your skills and work for yourself in a franchised business

Over the years, we all acquire certain skills. They start broad, in college, when we are learning how to do a lot of different things that help us choose the path we want to take in life. But as we continue to grow, we begin to sharpen certain skills in certain industries. We get jobs in the same industry we last worked in and develop those skills even more. So why not translate those skills into working for yourself and owning a franchise? The smartest people in business will use the skills they learned from their schooling and previous employers to work for themselves in a franchised business. Putting those skills into practice working for yourself shows just how well versed you are in your craft.

My feeling about franchises is that it is necessary to do something that you love and something that is unique. As CEO of Rhino 7 Franchise Development Corporation, I don't set people up with the next burger joint. There is nothing special about another burger chain and it probably won't be able to thrive in a market that is already saturated with franchises that have been established for decades. I set people up with niche market franchises that they have a passion for. If you don't own a franchise where you get to do something you love, then you won't put in the effort to make the business thrive. And when you own a franchise, if you don't work to make it thrive, it will fail. There aren't other people to fall back on, so you need to be passionate about using your unique skills that you have learned and developed over the years to create a business that everyone will want to use.

If you've lost your job or are looking for a change of pace, think about starting a unique franchise where you can utilize the skills and processes you are most passionate about. You have worked your whole life to develop the skills you have - so use them to do something targeted and niche oriented - start a franchise.

If you're good with people you're likely able to listen to them and be coached. With franchises you get training and a system to work with so you don't need as much general business skills. There are also programs for getting capital to fund franchises so access to capital isn't as big an issue as it used to be. It's still important but if you aren't the right fit and you don't have a good rapport with the owners, you won't have a successful franchise.
