Social networking is an important part of franchise success

Man is a social animal and every businessman knows that very well. So, from the time man started doing business, they keep on shouting in the marketplace about the uniqueness and fine-quality of their products (much like Unhygenix from the world of Asterix)! But, with the advancement of science and modern technologies, much of the mongering has toned down. Now, you don’t physically shout in the market, instead use psychology to influence the customers. Social networking has become a big part of advertisement. The popular saying that “A happy customer tells one, but a bad customer tells ten” is respected by anyone hawking his wares. So, in effort to build the word-of-mouth publicity rather than direct selling, many franchisors, who are offering franchise business for sale, opt for the major social networking sites on the net.

The social networking sites can be used in different ways. The franchisor may use them to recruit potential franchisees. Franchise owners can even go through the user-reviews in websites like www.yelp.com to know what the customers think about their business. In other sites like Myspace or Facebook, he can promote his business. But one thing has to be kept in mind; if you are maintaining an account in these social networking sites, all advertisements should be done in an indirect way. In-your-face advertisement may even lead you to such a situation where your account can be blocked! If you are not interested in opening an account, you can advertise them through google. But, when you write about your product or service in your blogs, don’t forget to leave a link to your main website.

If you want to network purely for franchise business, then going for social networking sites that centers particularly on the business is a good idea.

Re: 2010 Social Media Marketing Industry Report Re: 2010 Social Media Marketing Industry Report - Hi Terri, Interesting report. The stats are intriguing. Social media has come a long way, and it's almost essential these days to help build your brand. I would say Facebook and Twitter are my top two. MMO Social Network is starting to pique my curiosity, and it seems I can get some nice exposure to blog posts. It's important to find sites that work for you personally and then build up a profile on those sites. I believe it's here to stay and should be a regular part of our marketing efforts.
Ways to generate website traffic Ways to generate website traffic - From my experience link building has been an extremely valuable tool for me. The links I have received have helped build my Google Page Rank and increase my rankings for important keywords. I have not had much luck with directories. Your link is one of many on the page and the Page Ranks of the page that your link ends up being on is typically very very low. Social networking is interesting. I must admit that I haven't done too much in this space beyond tools like LinkedIn. I would love to hear people's experiences with promotion through social networking.
Re: Which franchise would you buy? Re: Which franchise would you buy? - The franchise to buy, the one that will succeed is the one that is either underrepresented or not represented in the community. Look at your community, identify what service is missing. That is the franchise to pursue. Too many people buy a franchise based on their "heart". A franchise is a "widget". I have found that once people began to investigate a franchise they had never thought of, but find their is a need; the entrepreneurial "gene" kicks in and they get excited. They began seeing the possibilities of success, and as they uncover the nuances of the franchise, they become more interested. It is the uninformed that are uninspired.
Re: Best looking social networking site? Re: Best looking social networking site? - Hi Kevin [quote:3h76yt08]With so many social networking sites to pick and choose from, what influences your decision to join a particilar site? Is it just your friends, the content, people using it or looks??[/quote:3h76yt08] For me, the most essential criteria in selecting a Social Networking Site is its Content followed closely by popularity- in terms of daily visitors. Then comes the Content followed by the Friends and looks. Most of do social networking to attract traffic to their website(s) and as such the Content and Popularity of the site are important. btw, the list doesn't have digg or netscape or del.is.us which are the top social media sites.
