Franchise Opportunities - Seeking out the right one for you

Whilst considering the range of franchise businesses accessible in the marketplace, there are a few things you are able to keep in mind to help refine your quest and help to get you move another step forwards towards starting your franchise business:-

Your Inclination

What would you like to do for employment? This seems obvious really however it is something that it's advisable to give some thought to in the first phases of your search. Career fulfillment is often about enjoying your occupation and it is this enjoyment that should maintain your passion and motivation to create a business. You may want to simply casually look through a big selection of franchise opportunities so you can get a first idea of the options around. Or else you might opt to jot down a few ideas in advance after which you can start considering franchise opportunities that fall somewhere close by to your idyllic job.

Your Work Area

Perhaps a home bases business suits you more effectively than working from a purpose built work point like an commercial property or shop front. Once more this will likely affect the franchise business you are in a position to contemplate.

Your Life style

Life-style could be something you will want to keep in mind. For anyone who is able to work full time then this can help give the widest selection of possibilities. For those who have, for instance, domestic commitments which stop you from carrying out a full time occupation, you might be only able to consider part time opportunities. The latter could lessen your opportunities to a large extent.

Capital

You will need to consider finance ahead of time as knowing what you can actually manage to pay for might help you to focus only on franchises that are inside your financial plan.

Travelling considerations

A good number of franchises for sale demand use of a vehicle or require you to drive as a part of the business. This may affect you in case you do not hold a license or are unable to drive for whichever motivation.

Your Skillset

A small variety of franchises for sale call for specialist skillsets or professional qualifications in order to start up the business. Luckily, for the majority of franchise opportunities extensive training is supplied; a readiness to understand the business franchise formula plus a dedication to work hard are the only competencies you will require!

Chances are you'll come across some other questions as you undergo the process of seeking out your best matched franchise system, but keeping the things above in mind as you look can help you chop it down to just a couple appropriate possibilities. Fortunately, most excellent franchise directory internet sites carry tools that enable them to address a number of these issues. So when you might need to work from home for example, you'll be able to decide to view only work from home opportunities. This may aid you in your choices.

Re: Info for would be franchisers... Re: Info for would be franchisers... -
Like Franchise Times, Franchise Update is a very practical magazine. There is no blah blah, just straight facts that anyone in the franchise community can relate to. I just want to mention that all these magazines are NOT franchisee oriented. I mean these magazines are for franchise professionals. If you're looking to buy a franchise, you won't find much information in there. To answer your question, getting published in Franchise Times was fairly easy. I don't want to brag too much but I think I am known in the franchise industry. I was the marketing guy at Franchise.com for a few years before joining my new company, the World Franchising Network. So people know me and I have a very good relationship with Nancy Weingartner, the Managing Editor at Franchise Times. I was talking with her at the last Franchise Expo South in Miami and she mentioned she'd like me to be profiled. I was like "ok, sure!". I like this franchise executive profile thing in Franchise Times as it is rarely BS. People are usually really natural in there.[/quote:1d29sdv1] Thanks for the follow up Sebastien! And I can't say that I'm surprised that networking with the right people and managing your relationships with them properly are the keys to being published. I guess the old adage holds true of "it's not who you know, but who knows you" that's important.
how much for a franchise fee? how much for a franchise fee? - Dear Colleague There is no easy answer to this question. Things to consider:
The sizeof the Franchise Clent base Expected Turnover Intellectual Property costs (recoup) Number of Franchises Number of employees Original Set up costs Franchise admin costs An example: A franchise that I was involved in setting was to a simple "lawn mowing/home repair" franchise. The Franchise included national/local advertising - preparation of client lists - general admin - central accounting etc The Franchise involved 300-500 clients - and an annual turnover of about $300,000 . The annual franchise fee was $30,000. Hope that this gives you some idea Take care Ian
Re: Franchise Surveys Re: Franchise Surveys - Another good tool to researching a franchise is to speak with their existing franchisees. This contact information is included in most Franchise Disclosure Documents. In order to get a Franchise Disclosure Document or FDD as it is often referred to, you will have to complete a basic franchise application. The franchisor will then usually provide you with the FDD at that time. Included in that book of information is a list of the existing franchisees, the contract, the investment information etc... This information is required by Federal Law to be disclosed to your prior to making a purchase. So be sure to do your research and start with the Franchise Documents to get the initial information.

We lead busy lives and when people fill their magazines with fluff, not only does it benefit no one, but it makes us truly appreciate those that don't. Thanks!
