10 Cities Offering Top Unemployment Benefits

For some people, receiving a pink slip may be disheartening, but not that surprising due to the present economic situation of the country. No company or employee is safe from massive restructuring and downsizing these days, which is why it is very important to have a basic understanding of unemployment benefits. It is also equally vital to learn the policies involved in unemployment eligibility before migrating to another area because the scope of these benefits varies significantly from one state to another. Below you will find a compiled list of cities that offer unemployment benefits. It will give you an idea of what to expect from each city. Unemployment Benefits in Different US Cities

As you calculate the scope of an unemployment benefit package, it is important to consider the cost of living in a particular state. For example, an individual from a neighboring state receives $100 less than you do every week, but your living expenses are much higher. Given such scenario, can you assume that you scored a better package? The answer is no. The following are 10 cities in the country that offer top benefits to individuals with previous annual salary of $150,000:

1. Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania: $547 maximum unemployment benefit per week for a $59,732 cost of living

2. Providence, Rhode Island: $641 per week for $80,144 cost of living

3. Charlotte, North Carolina: $476 per week for $61,956 cost of living

4. Boston, Massachusetts: $628 per week for $87,668 cost of living

5. Raleigh, North Carolina: $476 per week for $66,732 cost of living

6. Philadelphia, Pennsylvania: $547 per week for $80,209 cost of living

7. Seattle, Washington: $541 per week for $79,490 cost of living

8. San Antonio, Texas: $392 per week for $57,965 cost of living

9. Houston, Texas: $392 per week for $59,077 cost of living

10. Salt Lake City, Utah: $427 per week for $64,573 cost of living

If you look closely, higher unemployment benefits do not always mean that you got a better deal because usually, they are still offset by high costs of living.

The Unemployment Benefits Eligibility

As soon as you become unemployed, you need to contact your state's Unemployment Office to check your benefits eligibility. Take note that unemployment eligibility varies in every state. For example, the state of Georgia allows individuals who are looking for part-time jobs to collect benefits. The state also offers additional weeks of benefits to those who are attending job training. Neither of the conditions is present in Arizona but the latter state extends benefits to individuals who left their jobs due to illness or disability, relocation of spouse, or domestic violence.

You should not be surprised if the unemployment eligibility appears either generous or scanty. Its safety net is quite diverse and there are no evident reasons for it. The US Department of Labor is responsible for administering the system, but each state supervises its own benefits program.

For you to qualify for unemployment benefits, you must have recently worked for an employer for a certain time period and have earned a certain net income. These requirements may differ among the states, though the percentage of salary and wage, workers and the civilian labor force eligible for unemployment benefits are pretty high; 97 percent and 89 percent respectively.

Each state also has a complex method of determining your eligibility for unemployment benefits. Here are the factors commonly used in most states:

· Recent employment and earnings data

· Motivation and capacity to look for a suitable job

· Disqualification connected to recent job separation or refusal offer

As a rule, you must go to your state Unemployment Office for the updated information on unemployment benefits and eligibility. The question now is: are you eligible for this reliable unemployment benefit program?

Re: Email Marketing, Permission Based Re: Email Marketing, Permission Based -
Thanks for this great informative post. I agreed with you on "email marketing" as one of the best internet marketing. And using double - opt -in will definitely help in email marketing. If we keep looking at the way spammers do send mail, one may say that days of "email marketing" are numbered but with double opt in, I think "email marketing" will still continue to work. Cheers![/quote:c0jwwo97] Offering a strategic mailing system and high quality content is much more important to me than a double opt in option. Offering something of value and not overloading your mailings is a long term plan to use email marketing effectively. A double opt in is over in the beginning - nothing long term and ongoing. I'd prefer opting in once and give me the option to opt out if the content isn't good enough. Shri
Re: 10 High-Paying Careers With No Future Re: 10 High-Paying Careers With No Future -
Hi GT, Nice scary article but what about those countries where there is Unemployment, Crimes, Down sizing and Inflation? Hope you or someone will point out the factors and solutions for this.[/quote:27gmqpdz] This is a huge problem globally and in South Africa where I live I think the unemployment is sitting as high as 40% at the moment, although the government has promised more jobs. It is scary when one thinks about all the kids who are just graduating with good degrees and still unable to find employment. The world is changing and we all need to change with it. MichelleJ

Re: What Do You Outsource Mostly? Re: What Do You Outsource Mostly? - I outsource some lead generation for an affiliate program through a Co-op. This saves me time as I don't have to actively market and advertise to bring in the leads myself. It's important to note, however, that you need to use some discretion when choosing a particular co-op. In my case, the co-op is ran by one person, and I pay for each affiliate received, rather than a monthly fee paid to a firm with no guarantee of receiving any affiliates. In the future I plan to outsource some article writing, which will be used for affiliate marketing and building backlinks to my website. Blog posts on my own blog, and guest blog posts are all written by me only. I like to have control over that content. On the flip side, I have work outsourced to me as well. David was kind enough to mention about it above. Offering a freelance service gives me the joy of helping others. It's also nice to know that my service is needed and appreciated.
How Do I Start Franchise? How Do I Start Franchise? - How do I start a franchise? Before one can start a franchise it is important that you do your homework and research your market thoroughly so that you know what you are getting into. To start a franchise, it is vital that you: First, investigate all the franchise opportunities available to you by visiting franchise trade shows or by contacting a franchise agent. Also talk to family, friends or relatives who have set up a franchise, or who know some one who has set up a franchise. It is good to get as much information as possible from fellow franchisees, as not all franchises are good investments Second, talk to franchise owners that are in a franchise similar in to the one you would like to invest in. Ask them if they are pleased they are with their decision, and how well their business is doing. Is it meeting their expectations? Also ask questions about the franchiser and how responsive it is. It is important to determine the integrity of the franchiser you are interested in doing business with. Third, consult any and all advisers. Have an accountant review the audited financial statements the franchiser presents you with, and bring in a lawyer to help review all the legal documents before you sing them. Fourth, thoroughly read the Uniform Franchise Offering Circular, which is a disclosure document in which the franchiser must release certain information such as, any and all administrative, criminal or civil litigation currently pending or completed against the franchiser involving allegations of fraud or misrepresentation. It is a recommendation of the FTC that all franchisers supply a UFOC to prospective franchisees. Also make sure to verify and confirm the UFOC facts. Do a background check on the history and experience of the franchise and its employees. Fifth, compare other franchises. Look for franchises similar to the one you are interested in investing in, and see how well they are managed and financed. Sixth, know and be fully aware of all the terms and conditions of the purchasing contract you are about to sign. Seventh, research as much as you can. Buying a franchise is a complex process and should be approached with caution. The more information you know, the better it is for you. Remember, only you can determine if owning a particular franchise is right for you. When starting a franchise it is key that you evaluate yourself and see if a franchise is the right business investment for you. Investing in a franchise should not be taken lightly as it can be a risky business. It is important that you consider all the facts before you make a decision to invest in a franchise.
