Lean Marketing

In today’s business world, entrepreneurs must be innovative and frugal. Getting the most out of your marketing in the “leanest” sense is the concept of Lean Marketing. Below are some ways to recognize the benefits of Lean Marketing and begin to implement changes to your marketing strategy to effectively compete.

Lean Marketing means attracting the right business for your company while minimizing waste. When was the last time you analyzed your marketing strategy? Is your marketing creating value, maximizing customer options with fast delivery and high quality products and services all at minimal costs? Marketers need to critically evaluate their processes to determine their effectiveness in bringing maximum value to customers. If we know that only half of marketing is actually effective, we need to find ways to understand what marketing efforts are working and not working so we can streamline.

Whether you outsource marketing, manage it personally or have hired a marketing employee, there are ways to gage whether the current procedures are effective for Lean Marketing. Find a way to discover where your customers are learning about you. For example, if you sell products online one of the questions you should ask your customers is where the have heard about you. If 50% of your customers are finding you through a google search and you have spend 70% of your marketing budget on radio, newspaper or television advertisement, you obviously have a gap that needs to be bridged. Instead of focusing your time on methods that are not attracting the right clients to your company, look at what currently works and see how you can increase the success of that specific marketing strategy.

Once you discover where your customers are coming from, look at how you can make those areas stronger for Lean Marketing. So using the same scenario, if your customers are finding you through a web search, how can you optimize your search engine appeal using specific key words that will attract even more clients to your website? How can you keep customers on your website and get them to make the purchase? This may involve consulting an SEO specialist and/or a website designer but this cost may be a great deal cheaper than the current marketing practices.

There are a great deal of companies that offer advice and workshops on Lean Marketing. It may benefit you or your marketing representative to learn more about how you can streamline your processes to get the best marketing techniques for your specific needs in a cost effective manner. Take the time to research the company and what advice they offer and ensure the right person attends that can really understand and implement the strategies to get the most out of your company.
