Entrepreneur Job Description

Guest post by: Zeeman Haus

Article Overview: An entrepreneur is defined by Wikipedia as: a person who has possession of a new enterprise, venture or idea and assumes significant accountability for the inherent risks and the outcome. That should just about cover it right? Nope, that barely scratches the surface. The entrepreneur job description goes much deeper than just assuming risks and taking on accountability. The entrepreneur is a rebel by definition as well. They go against the grain and strike out on their own. But they aren't reckless bandits roving the countryside looking to make their next big score. There are a few traits that most entrepreneurs have in common.

An entrepreneur is defined by Wikipedia as: a person who has possession of a new enterprise, venture or idea and assumes significant accountability for the inherent risks and the outcome.

Courage would have to be the first and biggest trait. The idea of stepping out into a business for the first time can terrify many people. An entrepreneur realizes that they are stepping out into a world without a safety net and they go for it all anyway. Often it's not an overnight decision to become a business owner, it takes time. When that time comes, stepping out of the safety of the 9 to 5 into a world of 100% self accountability.

Entrepreneurs do not have to be geniuses either but they have to be good researchers. In order to be successful you have to know the business you are starting. You also have to know if there's a market and find a way to that market. We are not talking about reinventing the wheel, but knowing your business and being able to adapt to the market and overcome adversity.

Overcoming adversity takes more than courage, it takes some commitment. Commitment is a trait that entrepreneurs have in spades. No one paves a road for the true entrepreneur; they are trail blazers and pioneers. They are fiercely independent as individuals, not easily dissuaded from their goals and very much the tenacious individuals that they appear to be.

Brief entrepreneur job description would be the following:

· Finds and researches new business opportunities

· Improves on the current market segment

· Gets the funding to launch an enterprise

· Follows through and begins the new business

· Operates the business on a day to day basis overseeing details and babying their company into success

In a perfect world, this is exactly how this would play out. However there is one last trait all entrepreneurs should share; realism. Most entrepreneurs will quit before they reach their goal of success, this is true. However being a complete optimist will not get you very far either. There is a difference between being positive and being blindly optimistic. Entrepreneurs tend to be positive individuals who are pragmatic about the hurdles they face and the work it is going to take to vault over them.

The entrepreneur job description is one of the more difficult descriptions to pin down as we are all as varied in specialties and aptitudes as snowflakes. We do however all share the same traits and harnessing these traits is probably one of our biggest gifts and challenges.

How to create BUZZ? How to create BUZZ? - As a small startup we need to be able to create Buzz around our product, but we haven't had tons of success. Despite being written up in the Toronto Sun, Metro News, Entrepreneur Start Ups Magazine and listed as a resource in Entrepreneur Magazine people in Toronto still don't know about us. Any ideas on what I can do to get people talking? Preferable ones that don't have a large price tag attached? Any ideas would be appreciated. Our URL is included in my signature.

Re: Search Engine Optimization Re: Search Engine Optimization -

Just curious as to what others are doing to optimize their websites. I have received a page rank 5 from google which is very good in my line of business in comparison to my competition. I am still not coming close to being on the first page for main key word searches though, even though all of the websites ahead of me have a smaller page rank. Does anyone know how this works and what I can focus on? Thanks![/quote:2p2i4nbc] What you have done is amazing. 6 Months to a page rank of 5 is great. How did you do it?[/quote:2p2i4nbc] Hi there, John Alexander here. I agree, that if you have a Google page rank of 5, that is great (as far as PR goes.)Keep in mind that while PR does have benefits, it has little to do with where your page actually shows up in the search results. Having a PR of 3 or higher is fine, but I would not get too obsessed with it. One of the benefits of a higher PR is that the robots will visit you more often and another benefit is they will tend to stay longer on your pages and also dig a little deeper. But when it comes to where you show up within the search results, you must remember that Google (or none of the search engines grade on an absolute scale. What that means is that how difficult or how easy it is to get your page coming to the top depends totally on how competitive your competitive landscape is. The more competition there is for a specific phrase, then the more you have to do some work to compete. One of the best ways to begin is to look for any errors that are easy to fix. Are you using any dynamic pages that may cause the search engines to loop into a spider trap? Always remember, for any design challenge there are multiple ways to fix a problem. Is there any duplication in your Meta Description tags or Meta Title Tag? I only ask, because many times I see this one in Web sites where people are not aware of how important it is for each Title and each description to be unique. By that I mean each Title should relate to what is actually relevant to the page. Same with the Meta Description. This error is so common, that I often see that once people understand and fix the problem, (easy to fix) they quickly lose any duplicate content penalty and sometimes can increase their traffic by 20% to as much as 50% once Google sees them as unique and relevant. I know this is fairly basic, but if you star with the easy things to fix, it can bring you much better focus to your pages and you want every page on your site to be like an information rich gateway to attract many new readers. Then as you learn more and more advanced methodology, because the basics are right, they ultimately will carry you through and keep your pages performing in a stable way. I hope that helps a bit. Remember, doing good keyword research combined with only mild optimization can make you money.
