Reasons for Success of Intel

Guest post by: Zeeman Haus

Article Overview: In 1971 Intel had created the first viable commercially produced microchip. In 1972 they had produced a microcomputer. But still in the early 80s they were producing mostly memory devices. Due to increasing market pressure from Japanese companies, it was decided that Intel would change direction and begin producing microprocessors. At the time microprocessors were not very stable. In short, they broke all the time. Intel set out to make their microprocessor reliable and affordable. Intel had three different production facilities operational and was working with IBM to become their provider for microprocessors.

Reasons for Success of Intel

The microprocessor marketplace is a rapidly changing, cut throat business with no quarter asked and none given. Intel was one of the pioneers in producing microprocessors of the personal computer but that was not always so.

Intel was established in 1968 by Gordon E. Moore and Robert Noyce, two former employees of the Fairchild Company. In the 1970s Intel (shortened from Integrated Electronics) was a leading manufacturer of SRAM or static random access memory chips; memory cards.

In 1971 Intel had created the first viable commercially produced microchip.

With the success of the IBM personal computer Intel grew as well. Having positioned themselves to be the premier microprocessor company in the world and having the facilities needed to keep up with the demand, Intel grew with their partner companies by accommodating their needs. In addition to this, Intel also launched several ad campaigns to help anchor their position as an industry leader. The "Intel Inside" campaign was catchy and implied quality over all other processors such as AMD. This was important because AMD and Intel were in direct competition with each other in relation to the same PC companies. Some companies actually carried AMD and Intel Pentium processors. Suddenly people were asking "is the processor a Pentium?" and it became a buzzword.

But still it was a matter of time before serious competition entered into the marketplace and Intel had to look at restructuring. Intel adopted the "Tick-Toc" program for their R&D department. This program states that there will be a change in the product and massive further development on an annual basis. This sets a clearly defined goal.

Intel recruits heavily from within their own ranks. Some of its officers have never worked anywhere but Intel in their careers. This benefits the company in more ways than one; it shows their clients stability, their management is intimately familiar with the company's history , processes and practices and employee loyalty to the company is higher than a lot of the other Silicon Valley companies. As an added bonus to this, people entering into the industry are more easily recruited to Intel, thus they can pick the best and brightest employee applicants on the job market.

So three of the reasons for Intel's success have been:

These principles can be applied in their basic form to any company. Innovative thought, building an excellent employee relationship and rewarding their loyalty as well as marketing your business are all steps every business can take.

Laptop v PC Laptop v PC - My ten cents worth. I switched from PC to laptop and have never looked back, the freedom to work anywhere is fantastic, you can be totally untethered from the office, especially with wireless broadband. Some observations regarding AMD vs Intel Inspiron debate. While there are few office based real world performance issues between the two machines, the AMD initial cost versus its performance is excellent. And it seems to be quieter too.

Re: Success Re: Success - I study success intently, and would like to share: Here's two excellent and nearly identical success-formulas from a couple of the world's masters. FIRST FORMULA: 1. Passionate Desire 2. Clear, Definite Purpose 3. Committed Decision 4. Take Action In Faith (Bonus Secret Sauce: 5. Repeat Consistently) I made a video about this, but am not allowed to link it yet. Google "Ryze Success Steps" for it. Oh, and this is Napoleon Hill's (Master Of Success Laws)'s Formula. SECOND FORMULA: 1. Passionate Desire 2. Understand It Is Already Done (Faith) 3. Relax & Allow It To Unfold (Go about your life calmly) This one is courtesy of Abraham-Hicks (inspiration for the movie The Secret). Hope that helps!
Success Strategies Success Strategies - How to get the results you want now? Success Strategies and Action Steps I have used are: The Power of Choice Where you are at this present moment, is exactly perfect from the choices you have made. If you want to be somewhere else, you have to decide clearly what that is (your goal/outcome) and create action steps to achieve this. The Power of Focus The book "The Power of Focus" by Jack Canfield, Mark Victor Hansen and Les Hewitt, is one of my treasures in my Entrepreneur Library. If you focus on what you want versus what you do not want, your conscious and sub-conscious mind will direct attention to this. The movie, What the Bleep, Down the Rabbit Hole, explains this in detail about quantum physics and what we create in our lives. The Power of Commitment This is not about commitment to others. The first step is the commitment, your word, you make to yourself. Accountability and responsibility are additional success strategies and ingredients to creating the success, defined by you, that you want. The commitment to others reflects your integrity, your word and the team you work with. Co-workers, clients, yoru family, friends and community.
