Fear not mate, I've got a few pointers for you.

The first thing to remember is to stay away from pay-day loan stores. Anything that says "no credit check required" is a bad thing for building credit- or at the very least a non-factor. Every move you make from here on out should be with the aim of bettering your credit. If the financial move is not helping your credit score, then it is something not worth doing. When looking at small loans in Australia you have to think about the possibility of other secured loans. Pawn brokers are very bad and unless someone needs money of a life or death sort of way, avoid these. But if you are thinking about taking out a small loan for an automobile with a local dealer, again, make sure they report to the credit bureaus.

Banks are a great option for a secure credit card or small secured loan. The best security on a loan, or best equity is money. I know that sounds crazy, but it's true. A reputable bank will report your on time payments to a secured credit card or secured bank loan. Basically, if you walk into a bank and tell them you want to take out a $500 loan and you are willing to give them $500 as security, most likely they will not blink an eye. You will end up paying the interest fees on the loan, but the fact is you will be paying money to establish a history of on time payment to a loan. We call that revolving credit history and it is a good thing to have.

There is something called a Step UP Loan. This is a non-profit loan developed with Good Shepherd Youth and Family Service. These are unsecured loans available to people who qualify. They are considered to be small loans because they range from $800 to $3000. These loans are for people living in a low income situation. These loans are basically credit that can be applied towards necessities such as new appliances, cars for work transportation, computers etc. Typically the interest rate is very low and replaying these loans will help establish credit with the credit bureaus. The recipients of these loans are helped along by a microcredit worker throughout the loan process and repayment period. These loans are available to families and individuals living in New South Wales, Victoria, Western Australia and South Australia.

Remember the golden rules when trying to find small loans with bad credit in Australia; never take out a loan that you won't get credit for repaying and never take out a loan you cannot replay early. Remembering those two rules will always help you out.

Getting financed - It has always been my experience that it will always be better to be in business debt rather than personal debt, but I suppose when you can run your business out of your home and have so little overhead, it could be better to simply finance yourself and secure a business line of credit just in case you need it. On the flip side, when it comes to businesses outside the home, you want to secure financing and SBA is probably the way to go (depending upon what your total project will cost). Banks that provide SBA loan products prefer the loan be 100K or more. Then there are Micro Loans (loans that go up to 35K) and Signature Loans that are unsecured loans and mainly based on your credit score (680 or higher), they can finance anything in between and then some. It's been said in some of my other posts that when you obtain business loans its beneficial because you are building a track record with a lender for future use. Should you get financed via a business loan and later you need additional working capital to keep your business going (or to expand) the lender is going to be more apt to help you because they have already taken on the risk of your loan. Now, they would prefer you better yourself whether it be expansion or to pull yourself out of a hole so you do not default on the 1st loan... and if that means helping you further, believe me they will do it. However, if you finance yourself, who's going to help you with additional working capital if you run into trouble? Lenders won't help you because you financed yourself...they tend to take on the attitude that you didnt need them before, so why now? What if you had originally financed yourslef with home equity and still haven't paid it back...now you have a first mortgage a second or Home Equity line of Credit and your business is in touble and you have no way out.
Studying abroad - Wow that's pretty cool! But you should definitely narrow down your choices. For instance, do you know if high tuition fees will be an issue for you? Do you know if you want to (and more importantly can afford to)study out of town? A friend of mine was an aspiring teacher and since she wasn't accepted into any of the teacher's colleges in Toronto, she ended up studying in Australia for a year. And while it was an amazing experience, the adventure put her into serious financial debt because it cost well over $30,000. In fact, she even had to work a retail job on the side while she was there to help pay for food and outings. In addition, when she finally returned to Toronto, she wasn't able to find any full-time employment and was forced to return to Australia for a job.
Re: Internet Fax Services - any suggestions? - Our office uses an efax service here in Australia however, i think they are in Australia but service worldwide utbox.net service is great, we manage multiple engineer sign off forms on a daily basis and to avoid to cost of paying staff to scan in documents, this does it for us, we can save to server and email to clients on demand. The other benefit to it is, if the fax does not come through completed correctly or it fails, we are not wasting paper, ink/toner etc, the cost of the efax services now far outweighs the cost of admin staff and consumables.
