A Clear Goal Creates Momentum

Almost four years into the making, weare within spitting distancefrom launching our workbook for entrepreneursandintrapreneurs (corporate entrepreneurs):Achieving the UnReasonable… in 90-Days.

Thoughtyou might like the lesson fromDay 8:

Defining a Clear 90-Day Game Creates Momentum

Part 1: Make It Specific and Measurable We must create a clear “what, by when” goal. Remember, clarity creates success. We give our minds something specific to focus on and make happen.

And as I mentioned before, if your goal is vague and immeasurable then the results will be vague and immeasurable.

In the vague examples, “I want to create more sales” and, “I want to lose weight”, OK, but what will you focus on specifically to achieve this… and by when? Otherwise it goes nowhere.

You can make things specific and measurable by adding dates, times, dollar amounts, partner names, and so on.

Part II: Leave Yourself Open to More To really condition your mind, it is a good idea to leave yourself open to receiving more than what you declare. The best way to do this is using qualifier phrases like "AT LEAST" or "NO LATER THAN…" / "BEFORE".

For example, “I wantat leastfive more clients paying my normal ratesno later than(orbefore) July 31stof this year.”

Part III: Make Sure It IsUnReasonable! By this, I mean, really go beyond where you would normally go. Really stretch yourself.

But not too much of a stretch. There is a difference between beingUnReasonableand being unrealistic. Create a healthy balance of a stretch but within what you feel is possible.UnReasonable, yet achievable.

Question:"How do I know if I’m stretching myself and if it is too much (or too little) a stretch?"

It feels right! Follow your heart, not your head (at this stage). How does it feel when you think about having it?

There are two very important feelings in this exercise. They are both emotionally-based, not intellectually-based. Intellectual components are very important, and come later.

The Feeling of Fear The feeling of fear is important because it indicates how far outside your comfort zone you are in your Game. The more the fear, the further outside your comfort zone you are and the more you will need to stretch yourself to achieve the results you desire.

The Feeling of Excitement The feeling of excitement is your heart telling you, “Yes, more of that!” The more powerful the excitement, the more in alignment you are with your truest desires.

Pay close attention to whether your mind or your ego is telling you something that you're misinterpreting as your heart telling you something.

Fear vs. Excitement There’s a fine line between stretching too much or too little. Play with your specific and measurable results to see what is too much and what is not enough until you get the right balance of fear and excitement.

Think of the 90 days as a taut line that has just the right stretch. Fuel yourself forward with passion, and with carefully craftedStepping Stones(described later.)

Let’s set the mood of the day to really stretch yourself. Repeat 10 times out loud Affirmation # 2:

IlovebeingUnReasonable!

Action Steps for the Week:
Define your 90-Day Game

·In the next 90-days, what would rock your world in your business?

·New product/service (i.e. “I want to launch a new line of X.”)

·New contract (i.e. “I want to land that huge contract with Y company.”)

·Time and money to have fun (i.e. “I want to be debt free.”)

·Review what you just wrote and add any additional details that are important to you.

·Now synthesize everything into a clear, specific, and measurable 90-Day target. For example, “I want to generate an extra $1,000/month coming from an amazing contract with a large company so I can pay back my $10,000 loan.”)

·Is it a stretch, but not too much of a stretch? Focus on how itfeels. Compare how it feels with one notch up and one notch down. Find that perfect balance of excitement and fear. For example, “$3,000/month feels too much of a stretch, but $2,000/month feels great!” Revise your 90-Day Game if necessary.
