Key card electricity control

While participating in the Office 2. 0 conference, this fall, I stayed at the Orchard Garden, a hotel that recently obtained a certification for “Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design” - LEED, awarded by the USGBC. I wanted to extend my stay, but the hotel was already fully booked - an indication of interest in environmentally-branded hotels.

It was very interesting to note that the key card usage to turn on electricity for the room, so ubiquitous throughout Europe as an energy control system, is just now being introduced to hotels in the US, with this being the first hotel in San Francisco to implement such as system.

This points to a very interesting opportunity in catering to environmentally-conscious travelers throughout the world by introducing “green” practices from one area of the world into another is.

Re: How did we Live before Electricity Re: How did we Live before Electricity - If our ancestors has survived even without elevtricity, what about us? We have grown up with the modern world so electricity is very useful. I, myself don't think what I can do without electricity. Almost all of our activities today were powered by electricity. Yet if there would be no electricity in the future, we would all learn to live a simple and ancient life. Let's preserve energy and electricity for we may never know what the future brings.

It is very difficult to go backwards in life. MichelleJ
Re: How did we Live before Electricity Re: How did we Live before Electricity - I honestly couldn't imagine life without electricity. Even the camp I go to for hunting has electricity; although, the one year we had supper under a propane light as the weather knocked out the power. We have become so accustomed to modern technology and rely heavily on electricity that we don't even give it a second thought. We take a lot for granted that people in the early decades never got to experience. I remember my early years with no TV, computer, cell phone, etc. I can't imagine not having those things now, and we wouldn't if it weren't for electricity. Electricity has surely changed our lives and the way we do things.
Re: How did we Live before Electricity Re: How did we Live before Electricity - Hi Michelle, It's hard for us to think about life without electricity, like the Kids today can imagine their lives without a mobile phone. I do remember years we didn't have to use heaters and air conditioners. 2 days ago it was so hot here I couldn't breath. In my country the electric company is now paying to those who install solar panels an reduce the use of electricity. It is still very expensive, many still thinking if it worth it when think on the money they are going to spend, but if you think about the global worming, that we caused be cause we use electricity, I think it worth it.
Re: Free elecrtricity generator Re: Free elecrtricity generator - Can anybody help me with any aspect of my invention? In basic terms it is the energy of Gravity conserved and reused = (Auto engaging and disengaging shafts) = perpetual motion Perpetual motion + static friction generated in a pipe = free static electricity Free static electricity converted to usable electricity = Free usable electricity Free usable electricity generated by the constant friction generated by an auto engaging and disengaging machine that conserves the energy of gravity in a overcrankable clock spring The weight is easilly lifted back up the shaft with the aid of a double pully on ropes
