Green Thinkers Meet in Brussels

The environment and global warming are indeed global issues. Other parts of the world, especially Europe, are even more concerned than the US. Representatives of business, governments and academia met in Brussels on April 29, 2008 to exchange information and share investment opportunities especially relating to clean technology.

The meeting concluded that in order to achieve an eco friendly earth that could sustain a growing population with higher living standards we will need major innovations in:
o Technology
o Public policies and regulations
o Public-private partnerships
o Physical infrastructure
o Mindsets
o Global equity and responsibilities
o Financing

It seems a major problem with the meeting was a lack of government officials. In order for all of us in businesses – both large and small – to make the best choices and decisions we need to sit at the table with the larger group and have clarity on the policy direction of governments.

It is going to take everyone working together to build an earth that is a good place to live and do business.

Re: 10 ideas to make you money in 2010 Re: 10 ideas to make you money in 2010 - I think Education would be hard to break into. Baby Boomers, Life Support and Trading Down, however, seem like good markets. As for Green technology goes, I don't think the business has to be entirely based on Green ideologies, but rather a business that embrace Green philosophies and use that as a marketing tool.
Re: Are you a Blue, Red, or Green? Re: Are you a Blue, Red, or Green? - Hum... a lot of reds responding... Business owners must be a very aggressive community. Now, I was surprised when I took the course personally to find out I was a Green, secondary Blue. Of course, not believing this, the first thing I did was turn to those around me to get their opinions on my colours (typical Green!). The only thing I can really say about STRUCTOGRAM is that it was fun to explore the depths of my social and physiological make-up... I did this a over a year ago now and still use it in my daily interactions (always be on your toes with Reds).
New Kid in Town New Kid in Town - Hi everyone, I am Mike Martel, a former Special Forces Green Beret who moved in the corporate world a few years back. With my coaching, I work with people to achieve massive results for themselves and their businesses.

Robots Robots - Perhaps its because I have a four year old that I "get to" watch these great movies. Not just once either my friends, I get them drilled into me over and over again for a month, or until another new one comes out. But I have to say Robots is one of my favourites, especially as an entreprenuer. Rodney (the main character) is brought up by a hardworking family, especially a dad that gave up his dreams to provide for his wife and child. Once a week the father and son sit down to watch the latest and greatest from 'bigweld industries' - where all the new inventions are launched. This movie is about dreams, focus, persistence, taking risks and ultimately winning. but its also about finding and surrounding yourself with people who believe in being better, doing better and following their dreams. In the end, while focussing on how he can find a need and fill it, he changes the world. Very inspiring for those sometimes dark days of entrepreneurship. Next month I tell you about my latest favourite, Meet the Robinsons! The Rainmaker
