Double Glazing Too expensive?

Guest post by: Libe Chacos

Article Overview: You most likely are aware that double glazing provides more than twice the insulation value of single glazed windows. And while it is cheaper than ever to get double glazing for new homes; like adding insulation, it can be expensive if you just want to upgrade your home to be more environmentally friendly and comfortable. Or is it?

Double Glazing Too expensive?

To get value from insulation in a home, windows must be considered in the equation as well. And there are at least 12 simple ways to dramatically increase the level of insulation windows provide without adding new double glazing to an existing home. So whatever type of windows you have in your home there is an affordable option available to make the home more environmentally friendly.

To simplify the science; heat/light/energy moves through windows in three ways: radiation, convection, and conduction. Even if you don’t want the added cost of replacing existing windows with double glazing, it is possible to manage all three elements easily and separately to make a more comfortable and environmentally friendly home all year round that saves real money on power bills.

One key to making any home more environmentally friendly and comfortable in an affordable way is to invest money once for two benefits. So if you are looking to buy window treatments like blinds or flyscreens for example, then make them part of your insulation solutions as well.

One way to do this is through a range of new window treatments that has just been introduced to Australia by Inflector. There are 5 different applications to choose from so they offer the flexibility to offer insulation solutions for most types of windows. These include roller blinds, vertical blinds, sliding panels, skylight treatments and insulating panels.

These insulation solutions for windows are manufactured to suit individual applications. And reversibility helps provide the right insulation for different seasons making the home environmentally friendly all year round – without adding double glazing

To find out what other environmentally friendly options there are for insulation and windows (including double glazing) there are two Australian Guides that will help ensure every home can be comfortable and save money.

The Green Home Guide was specifically designed for homes that want to upgrade and be more environmentally friendly and more comfortable. It shares practical advice on saving water, slashing power bills by 62% before solar panels go on the roof, choosing windows, insulation, and 12 simple ways to improve the performance of any home without spending unnecessary money on new double glazing.

The Guide To Super Energy Efficient Housing goes one step further. This complete manual on affordable environmentally friendly homes includes 20 CD’s a DVD, 200 page manual and more. If you are planning a renovation, building new, are an owner builder or a building professional whose job it is to offer value and recommendations on topics like insulation, double glazing, energy efficient windows heating, cooling, solar hot water and embodied energy then this Guide provides answers – Guaranteed!

To discover how easy it really is to make any home environmentally friendly in a way that improves the value and comfort of the home and slashes power bills order your Guide today and discover how a home in Hobart stays comfortable all year round with a total heating bill of $1.80 and a total hot water bill of less than $40 with 2 adults and 2 teenage girls in the house – and no egg timer in the shower!

Today? -
I have done a little outsourcing, mainly getting a few articles written when I have been very short on time, but getting anything that is done well is expensive as far as I can see unless one has excellent recommended sources. MichelleJ[/quote:2qdcrmu8] Its not expensive if you look hard enough. The most visible people to hire will consistently be more expensive. There is more writers than writing jobs which creates a competitive market which keeps prices pretty low.

I know it's expensive so when I do it I want to make sure money is not an issue. Do you have recommendations on how to visit Japan on a shoestring budget but still be able to take in all the history?[/quote:2drqu5dg] Actually, Japan is probably not as expensive as you imagine. Less expensive than Britain, for example, with much better service and no tipping. You can stay in very clean, modern "business" hotels for $35-$65 a night (at least that is the case in Hiroshima). Get a Japan rail pass before you travel to Japan. You can enjoy great meals for a reasonable price... Which places do you want to visit? What special things would you want to do? If you come to Hiroshima, I'd be happy to show you around!
High price of entertainment High price of entertainment -
Why are Broadway tickets so expensive?[/quote:2hbjfazw] Hi Barbara, Maybe it's because the building lease is expensive too? But in truth, I think [u:2hbjfazw]ALL[/u:2hbjfazw] tickets (whether it be for Broadway or a sporting event or concert, etc.) are so expensive because consumers are willing to pay. So as a business person, why not charge as much you can get away with? My friend was just at Newark’s Prudential Center to see "UFC 78: Validation" this weekend where tickets were priced at $500, $300, $200, $100, $75 and $50 (facility and service fees may apply). He was treated to the $200 seats by his company, but he still spent most of the evening watching the fights from the giant screen! Don't you find it ridiculous how $200 seats aren't even close enough to the action to see with your naked eye? Wouldn't it be better to just order the Pay-Per-View and watch it from home for $39.99 then? Furthermore, my friend told me that a t-shirt he wanted to get was priced at $20 more (at the venue) than on the online store!
Use open source or custom coding? Use open source or custom coding? - If you're a small business owner who [u:beeyteal]IS NOT[/u:beeyteal] familiar with website design and has no intentions of learning, is it better to hire someone to build your website with affordable open source or expensive custom coding? Keep in mind that if a person takes the cheaper route of asking his/her web designer to build his/her site with open source... it may be MUCH more difficult and expensive in the long run to change to a custom site.
