Double Glazing Grants: Fact or Fiction?

Double Glazing Grants

Some local councils have a limited amount of grant funding available for low-income households. You would normally have to be in receipt of certain benefits, tax credits or allowances and you may also need to be above a certain age.

As demand for these schemes is high and there are limited funds available, waiting lists are normally very long. Most householders will not qualify but if you feel you could be entitled to a Local Authority grant, you should contact your council directly.

Window Scrappage Schemes

At present, there are no official scrappage schemes available for double glazing. The Glass and Glazing Federation have petitioned the UK Government with 4,467 signatures calling for a cash incentive of £1,000 to be made available for replacement Energy Efficient windows. This petition was submitted in March 2010 to 10 Downing Street but it is not yet known whether it will have any impact.

Even a scrappage scheme were introduced, it could end up being as popular as the Government’s Boiler Scrappage Scheme introduced in January 2010. This scheme provided a £400 voucher towards the cost of installing a new boiler, providing the old boiler was G rated and certain other conditions were met. Within three months, all vouchers had been allocated and the scheme was closed to new applications.

Some double glazing companies have promoted their own window scrappage schemes in recent months. However, they are nothing more than a marketing tactic and are not official Government-backed schemes.

Double Glazing QUOTES

The majority of householders will not qualify for a double glazing grant and window scrappage schemes do not yet exist but there is another option available to all UK home owners and landlords. It is possible for an independent organisation to arrange for up to three reputable local installers to provide free quotations. Each installer knows that they are competing against each other which drives down the price and can often save you up to 75% off the cost of your double glazing.

All double glazing installers are fully vetted which means that you will not be visited by any rogue tradesmen. All suppliers offer free advice and the quotations you will receive are completely free of charge.

Even though the quotes are extremely competitive and can result in big discounts, not everyone can afford the up-front cost of new windows, doors or conservatories. The good news is that in addition to receiving free quotes, if you decide to go ahead with any work, a competitive finance package is also available, subject to your circumstances.

So whilst the vast majority of home owners cannot receive a grant and there are no window scrappage schemes available, the alternative is just as attractive if not more so. Up to 75% discount achieved through free, no-obligation quotations is something that anyone considering fitting new or replacement double glazing should consider.

Re: Social Networking and You Re: Social Networking and You - Thank you Mal The Fact is that these predictions are already being proven true so much so that my partners and i have developed a new system we call Social Impact Marketing , and using this system we have been able to get some amazing results dropping a sites Alexa from 3.8 million right down to 153,752 in just over 7 weeks and increasing it's page views from 52 per week to between 60,000 and 112,000+ per day and unique visitors up from 12 (mostly ourselves) per week to around 600 to 1000 unique visits per day, to prove it's not a fluke we then went on to do the same for 2 other sites. of course basic SEO was still used but the main effect could be traced to SIM, which is a simple system to implement but requires the use of a team comprising of at least 3 - 4 people working in unison. Just how far we are able to push a site using SIM is yet to be established as the sites used in our testing of the system continue to improve daily and until they peak we cannot establish a benchmark however they have already passed the achievable levels using the basic SEO applied to them..
Re: Government Grants; sources and experiences Re: Government Grants; sources and experiences - Quoting two investment experts on msnbc discussing grants for small business recently: Ken Yancey, CEO of SCORE "I've been doing this for 16 yrs and never met anyone that got a grant." Phil Town, bestselling investing author, "...must be 20-30 websites about U.S. grants. I think they're all scams." Government grants are not available for for-profit start ups. Grants that are available are generally for very specific geographic areas and/or for specific development (environmental for example) and/or for non-profits. These grants are usually meant to create jobs for under developed areas. I hate to see so many entrepreneurs waste valuable time and resources chasing non existent grants. When the CEO of SCORE says he never met someone that got a grant, it's time to sit up and listen. This is actually the very reason the new funding source (below) was created.
Who's best for first time commercial loan? Who's best for first time commercial loan? - I truly hope you can prove me wrong on this. If you do, please post your experience for others to benefit from. I think you will be VERY disappointed in the types of financing available to small businesspeople. The SBA is one way to go, but it requires that you put money down and allow them to put leins on everything you own, from your home to your underwear. As for true "commercial" loans, the banks I've spoken to won't even consider it if you've been in business less than 2 years. Even then, they try hard to channel it into an SBA program if they can (because of the partial loan guarantee.) So, basically, the answer near as I can figure is that nearly nobody provides true commercial lending to new endeavors. If you really want a shock, you should see the interest rates that small businesses pay on unsecured small-business loans once they do qualify. Double digit interest rates are more the rule than the exception. You'd be better off taking cash advances at intro rates on your credit card. You might seek sources of venture capital. Allow yourself a repayment provision whereby you buy out initial investors at their initial investment plus a reasonable rate of return.
