Going Green = saving money

Guest post by: Peter Bonenberger

Article Overview: More and more we get mail with this statement: "I Want to Be Seen in Green" Nowadays “Going Green” improves public perception, many companies think: “It is just good business…” Many of the big companies understand this metric - green is "in" and it is not a color that is going to go out of style. This change of view comes from new workers, from new entrepreneurs, just having finished schools and universities. US education places are the greenest places in the United States. Green is cool in school today. More and more of former students are becoming new customers, but customers with new-fashioned views, views their fathers would never have thought about. So, what’s all the fuzz about going green? Can GREEN bring in some money?

Going Green = saving money

How can a company get the Going Green touch?

• conservation easement - do good and talk about

• LEED certification for buildings - do good and talk about

• fleets using biodiesel, gas, hybrid

• Solar panels on the roof - show your green ideas

• Recycling bins seen in company buildings

• Insulation upgrades to lower energy consumption

• green meetings are cool today - ask us how to organize one

• Smart appliances with an energy star

• Small wind turbine - everybody can see your commitment to renewable energy

• Composting food waste

• Carbon offsets

What's in it for your me?

New ideas get the most green press.

Green ideas show that You are a responsible person / company. Green actions give your friends / your customers the feeling *YOU CARE*

Composting - many people look for it.

It fits the three "‘R's"

REDUCE - REUSE - RECYCLE

Recycling of course gives you credit in the eyes of your customers: You / your company cares for the future, reduces the amount of natural resources, so some is left for the next generation.

A nice side effect of GOING GREEN it, that you can save money on your energy bill, on your trash bill, on your gasoline bill and often you get free press articles, you normally have to pay big bucks for.

So think about GOING GREEN - and if you do:

Show it, explain it, talk about it!

Re: Looking for tax advice from full time internet marketers Re: Looking for tax advice from full time internet marketers - Hi Trent - I've had my accountant prepare all my taxes both personal and business for the past number of years. I find that he's always on top of what deductions I can make and has really helpful tax planning advice - his knowledge more than pays off in savings compared to what I pay him as a fee - so I'm saving money and saving time! You have to have enough earnings though to make the deductions worthwhile. For entrepreneurs making $40k per year then paying an accountant probably doesn't make sense but if you're into the six figures then you should start to realize some significant savings. Plus you get to spend more time doing what you're actually good at and what brings in money instead of spending your time on your taxes. Hope that helps!
Re: Service Or Product? Re: Service Or Product? - I think that's true VSL. You would definitely have to have the right product for the times. Perhaps something about saving money......if you know of several ways that you are able to do that. Or a gadget that will save them money. One that is a necessity; like a vacuum or something that would save a lot of energy so they'd see the difference in their bills. Yes, timing is everything!
Re: 10 ideas to make you money in 2010 Re: 10 ideas to make you money in 2010 - I think Education would be hard to break into. Baby Boomers, Life Support and Trading Down, however, seem like good markets. As for Green technology goes, I don't think the business has to be entirely based on Green ideologies, but rather a business that embrace Green philosophies and use that as a marketing tool.
Re: About: product production! Re: About: product production! - That makes sense Kevin. By getting the patent yourself, not only are you saving a lot of money, but you are also learning the laws involved with how it all works and are far less likely to have someone cheat you out of what is rightfully yours. Re: How can we replace plastic grocery bags? Re: How can we replace plastic grocery bags? - [quote="MichelleJ":zy83ud3y]In South Africa we pay quite a lot for those plastic bags at the supermarkets, so I keep some in my car, some at home and then still forget them when I go shopping.,/quote] Hi Michelle, That was the plan here too, but it stayed a plan, that's why all supermarkets here gave a way baskets, from recycled stuff, I have so many I never use them. [quote:zy83ud3y]...Tanny's solution of shopping online sounds like a much better way as we are saving the planet and saving ourselves time as well. [/quote:zy83ud3y][/quote:zy83ud3y] Shopping online is not only a time and money saver, it's a life saver too, I woke up last Friday and 4 boxes waited for me at the door, 20 minutes to place everything, and I'm done.
