Home-Based Business Strategies - 9 Money-Makers for Work-at-Home Moms

But put on the hat of a mom, and still stay at home and work – well, that’s something to be proud of, lose sleep over, and really be in stress about! But if you do things right, and if you still keep the role of mom and wife without losing your sanity or your temper, then you could really earn your keep.

To tell the truth, there are many different kinds of jobs that you can take on if you are at home and working. You only need to get a job that will pay you the most for a minimum amount of work – and that will allow you to still be a great mom and wife in the process. Here are the top ten jobs that you might want to have while the hubby is at work and the kids are at school, and you’re at home, ready to put some money in the bank.

1. Be a virtual assistant and lend a hand to people in need offshore. Not all businessmen or businesswomen need to travel abroad constantly in order to get their offshore work done. If someone wants to do business in your area, you could be that person’s virtual assistant without that person having to travel all the way to your place. You can run a few errands, fax a few things, email a few letters, and act as a liaison in your spare time.

2. Be a freelance writer. Do you have the gift of writing? Have you ever dreamed of writing for a living? Well now that you have most of the day off, you can be a freelance writer for a magazine. If you are into women’s or lifestyle magazines, then you may want to offer your services – plus getting to write for such magazines can put you in touch with more potential jobs and even a good number of freebies!

3. Blog for a living! Did you know that some blog networks offer payment for you to blog? So if you’re interested in writing about specific things, especially things that concern you being a mom or a wife, then start applying to blogs to be a writer. You can do short articles in your spare time, say, while you’re waiting for the kettle to boil, or the clothes to come out of the dryer.

4. Have your own daycare! Get some friends together and organize a daycare for other moms in your place who have to go out and work. You can either set aside one of your homes for the daycare center, or put some money together to rent out a place.

5. Make your own jewelry. Buy some beads, make some necklaces and earrings, then start taking pictures and posting them online or in your local newspaper. Watch out for trends in your local jewelry store! You could stumble on some good earnings from teens too.

6. Make your own gift baskets from home. Why not put together gift baskets for important holidays or events? You can help a lot of companies who need this kind sof personalized service for their employees or guests.

7. Start learning how to design websites – or be a graphic designer. Although this might take a little more of your time, imagine how exciting your free time could be!

8. Make cute party favors, invitations, or anything for a party. If you have an artistic side, flaunt it! Help your friends with their party favors and invites with just a bit of paper, ribbon, and some dried flowers. Let your imagination run wild – and let your kids help out! They’ll have fun, too.

9. Every day can be a fun bake out, and you can let your kids join in. When Christmas, Valentine’s, or any big events come along, brownies and cakes never fail to please. So if you like cooking or baking, get those ads in the paper and make sure that everyone knows where they can get their sweets – home cooked and warm, straight from your kitchen.

Check out which of these you have the most passion for and with the right tools and marketing tactics, you can turn any of these crafts into a lucrative business.
