For an innately creative soul, feeling stuck in a non-creative, non-inspiring job is a terrible fate. And it usually only gets worse coming on the end of a year when you get a few days off for the holidays because as soon as the break starts you’re dreading your return to that job you hate.

If you’re thinking of starting a home staging business what better time to make the transition than the start of a New Year which coincidentally kicks off a new decade?

I know the joy firsthand that comes from doing work that you love and I've heard from so many Staging Diva Graduates about how their lives have changed since they learned how to become professional home stagers and started their own businesses.

For example, Carol King ran a hair dressing business in Texas for 36 years prior to becoming a home stager. "I didn't enjoy my business as much for the final 6 years but I had 20 stylists working for me. I really feel home staging is my calling and I'm excited to start something new in my sixties."

Many others have had deaths in their families that woke them up to the reality of how short life is and how important it is to use our time doing something we love. Still others are breast cancer survivors, like East Coast Stager Gloria Salvetti, determined to take a new direction in their lives working in something that feels more authentic.

Re: Trade Shows - Are They Worth It? - HI, I have used trade shows (not participated) to collect potential clients. For example, the Home & Garden Industry is extremely behind the time in regards to their websites. I attended an Home & Garden Expo in Denver and collected all the companies contact information. I plan on cold calling & mailing information to each business. It also gave me time to research the industry more, talk directly to the owners in many cases, and learn more about what they need. Jeff

Re: Require Info on CAD Fed/Prov Grants for Restaurant Start-up - I know the Ontario government is starting a "Second Career" campaign, full of internship opportunities for new chefs and catering staff. It may be worth your while to research the possibilities with that. It may work itself out to be cheap labor in the form of a grant. Good luck regardless!
