The economy of today is probably the main reason why there are that many people in search of a work at home job or opportunity.
Even though a lot of sales letters and work at home programs put the emphasis on the fact that it's great when you don't have to commute anymore and that you can make more money as when you would work for a boss, this by no meaning is the truth as to why you are looking for a way to create a second income.
There is, and always will be, only one reason why anybody would try to make a living online.
You are clearly in serious need of more income.
As you've read before, I blame our economy for this. Let me explain; Before I decided to pursue a work at home career my wife and I where both working. I had a full time job and my misses was working 18 hours a week. Even with our mutual income which we created from these jobs it was still hard to make ends meet. There certainly wasn't room for anything major like an expensive holiday or a new car.
Heck, after paying all our bills like mortgage, insurance, gas, electrics and government taxes there was just enough left for food and necessary clothing. I for one am 100% convinced that the majority of people are under the same circumstances as we where and you know what? Our government wants it to stay this way.
So, which way out is there to create more income?
A work at home career which you might be able to pursue next to your regular job.
Because of this everybody is luring people into the imaginary world where it is possible to make millions with a work at home job without even lifting a finger. All this with only one reason. To get your attention and to take your hard earned cash as soon as possible with as little effort as necessary.
This, at the same time, is also the reason why your personal work at home job aspirations will be shattered unless you are following some ground rules.
1. Stop pursuing every single work at home opportunity which is thrown into your face.
Probably the main rule which you should follow to become successful with your work at home career is staying focussed. Once you enter the work at home world/business you will receive hundreds of e-mails and visit hundreds of web sites where people offer you work at home opportunities.
Obviously you have to start somewhere, but once you decided to start with a work at home job which seems to be promising, you should stick with it for at least a couple of months without starting anything else. This way you will have a fighting change to make it worth the time and effort which you have invested.
2. Plan your time schedule.
This I had to learn the hard way. If you don't plan the little amount of time which you've got available for your work at home career, you will end up wasting all your time with reading your e-mail, reading forum postings and reading some guru's well meant advice, without taking the necessary action which you should be taking.
Instead you should be doing your translating job, your data-entry, taking surveys or building your very own online home business. I don't care what work at home job you decided to go fore, instead of wasting your time, you should actually be taking action. Start bringing in that much desired money by planning your days.
3. Ask for as much help or advice as you can get.
All of us who work at home have had moments where they seriously doubted the path they where following. None of us who make a decent living with their work at home job reached their goals without sleepless nights and questions as to why we are doing what we do. At these moments you definitely need someone who can give you advice, listen to your worries and help you on your way to personal success.
This person can be the one whose program you joined, a work at home colleague, or perhaps through a forum which you visit regularly to seek advice. Belief me, you will have a much harder time without the help which is always available.
Obviously it is possible to make a decent income through a work at home job, just don't get distracted or fall for all those so called quick rich schemes. My personal view on the work at home world is often different from most people but then again, I'm dutch blame it on my heritage.
