If you are running an affiliate marketing business of your own here are a few examples of how you could benefit from a mentor.

1. How to get started. Affiliate programs are free and anybody can join. Usually you can be approved to become an affiliate in a few minutes depending on the affiliate merchant.

Because they are free to join, every day a lot of people join affiliate programs. It is a fact though that these people never make any money with the programs they join.

They tend to spend more time looking for programs to join and then joining them. However, once they are approved they don't actually promote the affiliate products. This should not be the case.

A plan for promoting your affiliate products is something a mentor can help you implement. If you treat your affiliate marketing career as a business a mentor can help you establish a solid plan from the very beginning.

2. What niches to target. As more people become affiliate marketers this is becoming more significant.

You limit some of the competition when targeting a niche. With affiliate marketing it is actually amazing how many different ways you can make money.

4. Personal touch. As the internet world is vast it can sometimes get lonely sitting at home in front of your computer.

You have someone who can provide personal interaction for you when you work directly with a mentor. This is great for your morale as well as for the knowledge and affiliate marketing support you receive. A lot of successful affiliate marketers give thanks to their mentor for helping them to persevere with their business during the tough times.

There are pros and cons to Affiliate Marketing, just as there are to any business. As has been suggested, he best policy is to proceed with caution and do some research before jumping in. As Carol has recommended, this topic thread in the EvanCarmichael.com forum is the ideal place to ask questions and seek further input on available Affiliate Marketing programs. If a person is serious about building an online business and is interested in Affiliate Marketing plans, they should approach the process as they would any other form of business. Research, ask questions, compare opportunities, participate in forums on online business and Affiliate Marketing. GT :-]
Re: Affiliate Marketing - Open for Discussion - Hi GT Affiliate Marketing is one of the easier ways to get started making money online, but it does take quite a bit of work before you see any great results as you have to keep promoting constantly. It does teach you one hell of a lot about all aspects of Internet Marketing though as you will need to learn how to write and submit articles, create and maintain a blog, social networking is a great help to affiliates too..the list goes on and on. Re: Affiliate Marketing - Open for Discussion - You made some very good points here Jeff and I agree with you, Affiliate Marketing should not be something that you concentrate all your efforts into. As i said earlier I have learned a lot with Affiliate Marketing and continue to do so, and it has helped me tremendously to understand what I am going to have to do in my chosen niche(s). I am also being coached by the same group of mentors as GT and we are all moving forward daily to achieve our ultimate goals. Take care, Carol

Re: What or Who Sparks Your Business Interest - It's interesting to see what the different motivations are by Age Category. I've noticed this around me: 20 to 29yr olds: Motivator: Money 30 to 39yr olds: Motivator: Success/Ambition 40 to 49yr olds: Motivator: Family comes first 50 to 59yr olds: Motivator: Leaving a legacy i've only gone that far in my analysis. Of course this is a braid generalization but I find that it helps direct my marketing to individuals in different age brackets. The product/service can be the same but the Marketing message (Benefit Statement) to a 20 year will revolve around "Money" vs. a 30-something would be on their "Self Image"
