If you are cash strapped there are still good ways you can promote your website. Let's take a look at some online marketing strategies that definitely do work and take little or no money to implement.

1. Article marketing. Using articles to promote a website is one of the best online marketing strategies. Here you will write articles, include your website url in the resource box, and submit these articles to online article directories.

One strategy is to promote your articles to one specific directory. If you do this you want to promote to the largest directories such as Ezine Articles or Articlesbase.

Creating unique versions of an article and submitting it to a number of article directories is an alternative strategy you could use. You can do a Google search to find the 10 largest article directories online.

One other strategy is to use a service such as Submit Your Article to create unique versions of your articles. Then submit those with one click to multiple article directories.

2. Blogging. At Blogger you can start your own blog at no cost at all. So that you have full control of your blog, hosting your own is a far better strategy and it costs under $10 per month.

The good thing is you can host multiple blogs after that and it won't cost you any more. Whenever you post a blog article you should social bookmark it using a free service such as Only Wire.

3. Email marketing. Using some of the above strategies you can build your own email list. You can get a quality auto responder for about $20 per month.

One way to do that is to send all of your traffic to a landing page for people to subscribe to a newsletter you promote. If you can come up with useful and creative information, that people would want to receive, you can build a very large list.

As your list grows you can sell products to it. Becoming an affiliate for that merchant's program is a way to sell products without having to outlay any money.

4. Social networking. Facebook is huge. It has been stated that they are the second biggest website on the internet now.

A great source of social website marketing is Twitter. A social network site mainly for professionals is LinkedIn. These ways are totally free of charge and are potentially good ways of promoting your website.

We have discussed a few highly effective online marketing strategies that cost nothing or very little to implement. One of the great advantages that Internet marketing offers is you can make up for the lack of money by investing some of your time.

Forum Marketing Yahoo Answers (I need to use more of) SEO (Search Engine Optimization) Bum Marketing or Article marketing P-P-C (Pay Per Click) Marketing Online Directories Hope this helps.

Those are all just "internet marketing" as far as I am concerned. And I normally would have voted for internet marketing, however I chose social media marketing simply because there are more than enough IM forums out there already.
