With affiliate marketing you are given products to sell from the affiliate merchant. As most of us do not have our own products to promote on the Internet this is good.

Also you are provided with an affiliate website to promote that has your products on it where a customer can purchase them from you. For every sale you make you will earn a commission.

This was primarily done by selling a product in the past. Nowadays you can also earn money on pay per click affiliate programs and cost per action affiliate programs.

Your compensation can also become residual when you sell affiliate products that pay you in the future as well as for the sale you make today. One example of this would be selling a membership to an affiliate training program.

A lot of affiliate merchants provide a product funnel for you to develop a residual income as well. Firstly you earn a commission by selling a lower priced item up front. By selling higher priced products on the back end means you can continue to make money.

The nice thing about this concept is the merchant takes care of everything once you make the initial sale. Also you'll continue to be compensated as though you are working on future sales too.

You will be able to find affiliate products for nearly all product categories. However finding ways to make residual income with these affiliate programs might be a little more difficult.

Think in terms of products a person would need to re-purchase in the future. Hence the reason why membership sites are so popular to promote when you are looking for residual income.

Also you can develop a long term income by doing things such as building a large number of websites and putting Google Adsense ads on them. Those who do this focus on niche marketing and try to create a site that will continue to pay them every month even when they are no longer promoting it.

With Google ads you do not have to sell any product. You just promote your website with ads on them and you make money when people click on the ads.

The above are a few thoughts on how to make residual income. The more you look into this you will find there is no limitation on the number of ways you can do it in the affiliate marketing business model.

There are pros and cons to Affiliate Marketing, just as there are to any business. As has been suggested, he best policy is to proceed with caution and do some research before jumping in. As Carol has recommended, this topic thread in the EvanCarmichael.com forum is the ideal place to ask questions and seek further input on available Affiliate Marketing programs. If a person is serious about building an online business and is interested in Affiliate Marketing plans, they should approach the process as they would any other form of business. Research, ask questions, compare opportunities, participate in forums on online business and Affiliate Marketing. GT :-]

Re: Affiliate Marketing - Open for Discussion - Hi GT Affiliate Marketing is one of the easier ways to get started making money online, but it does take quite a bit of work before you see any great results as you have to keep promoting constantly. It does teach you one hell of a lot about all aspects of Internet Marketing though as you will need to learn how to write and submit articles, create and maintain a blog, social networking is a great help to affiliates too..the list goes on and on. Re: Affiliate Marketing - Open for Discussion - You made some very good points here Jeff and I agree with you, Affiliate Marketing should not be something that you concentrate all your efforts into. As i said earlier I have learned a lot with Affiliate Marketing and continue to do so, and it has helped me tremendously to understand what I am going to have to do in my chosen niche(s). I am also being coached by the same group of mentors as GT and we are all moving forward daily to achieve our ultimate goals. Take care, Carol
