Internet marketing is defined as promoting and selling products on the Internet. Sometimes people get overwhelmed with the big picture when in reality Internet marketing is not that difficult.

Let's talk about how you can do Internet marketing in five easy steps in this article!

1. Choose a niche to market in. This is going to be a lot of fun.

Get a piece of paper and write down a list of everything you enjoy. Then narrow that list down to things that you either have a real passion for or are an expert in.

This is going to be the niche that you choose to start your Internet business in. The chances of you being successful are very good because you will enjoy working this type of business.

2. Start a blog online. Go to Blogger.com and set up a blog in three easy steps.

You do not need any technical skills to do this. You can choose a template based on your own personal choices. Google owns Blogger and offers tutorials on how to set your blog up the way you want it to be.

3. Find products to sell. The best way to do this is to become an affiliate marketer. You certainly want to start by joining the Google Adsense affiliate program because placing ads on your blog is easy to do.

Affiliate networks such as ClickBank and Commission Junction are also great places to find thousands of products to sell in one location.

4. Promote them all over the internet. This certainly will be the hardest part of the whole process. It's also the one that you will spend the majority of your time on in the future.

One important point is to find one or two forms of marketing online that you enjoy and concentrate on becoming an expert on them. Possible things you can do to promote on the Internet today include social media such as videos, article marketing, blogging, social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter, email marketing, and much more!

You really only need a couple of meaningful traffic generation tactics to succeed online. You can take a "hands on" approach and do them yourself.

You can even outsource this type of work to other people. However you choose to do it you must get traffic to your blog if you expect to make any money.

5. Repeat until you are rich! You really can make a lot of money on the Internet today in numerous niches.

Once you get a system in place that is working you can then just repeat this in other themes and continue on until your income is at the level you want to be.

Re: Kevin's Case Study #11 - A New Forum Category? - Hi Kevin, Like GT suggested, I also think you can add Internet Marketing as a sub category in the Marketing section and also a Social marketing as subcategory. Online marketing/internet marketing/online promotion are the same, and it will be best to use the common term - Internet marketing. I can't think about someone to moderate a Social Marketing category. We all use it, we all know how to make it work and we all have our own different experience with it.
Re: e-Commerce and e-Payment providers - When I came back to Japan in 1999 I sometimes used to ask my students if they would buy anything on the Internet and at that time most thought it was too risky. I'd encourage them to try by using well known sites such as Amazon.co.jp and also pointed out that using a credit card on a reputable site was safer than using it at a restaurant. I can't remember the last time I had that discussion or when the "tipping point" occurred in Japan. To answer your other question, I use Paypal for several reasons: 1. Brand familiarity 2. Easy to use 3. Free to withdraw 50,000yen+ to my Japanese bank account - a huge benefit (but maybe other systems also offer that...?) 4. Easy to cancel subscriptions On the down side, their transaction fees are quite costly, they are difficult to contact and when disputes arise you can sometimes lose even when you can prove via your tracking service that the disputed item was "delivered" to the customer's address!
Internet Marketing Conference on SLife - I've been trying to log in but it keeps crashing.. anyways.. a friend of mine in BC plans on holding Internet Marketing Conferences on SecondLife and have the same top internet marketers that would normally be in Live Internet Marketing conference speak. Income will be generated from admission charges, product sales during breaks, sponsor tables, etc etc.. Just to get the ideas flowing in your head that anything you can do in the real world can be replicated in SL. There is no planned date as of yet for this conference.

You sound like a very enthusiastic person who likes what she does and in Internet Marketing that is very important and you also sound like a 'people person' which is great. Internet Marketing is time consuming and challenging but can also be extremely rewarding and hopefully profitable. I don't know how many forums you have signed up to but this is one of the best. The support and guidance you get here is what makes it the success that it is but as I am sure you know from looking at the side bar that there are many aspects of business that are catered for here which will help you along the way, best wishes, Mal.
Re: How many mambers of this forum are also member of WF? - Hi Kevin, I have to agree with Tanny. All forums are unique in their own way, but doesn't mean that one is better than the other. What you might get out of one forum, you may not get from another. For instance, the WF focuses on Internet Marketing, while this forum focuses on Entrepreneurship. Each has their own set of benefits. I don't think you can really compare one to the other, unless of course they focused on the same topic. I have learned a lot from this forum, stuff I would never have gotten from the WF. With that being said, I've learned a lot from the WF, specifically since I need to know about Internet Marketing and running an online business. The addition of the Online Business forum here will help, and Jeff is doing a great job as moderator.
