Whilst we all apply different techniques when posting articles on a blog, here are a few SEO friendly blog posting tips you should bear in mind if you want to increase your exposure.

1. Target a different longtail keyword phrase for each article you post on your blog. This will tell the search engines exactly what your blog article is about.

What you need to do is compile a list of longtail keyword phrases that you will use in your future blog posts. Free keyword tools such as the Google Adwords Keyword Tool will provide you with the most commonly searched keyword phrases related to the theme of your blog.

2. Post the keyword phrase only in the title. Use your keyword phrase as the title rather than your whole article title.

Your keyword phrase will appear in the blog url. As the search engine robots spider your blog they will immediately know what that article is about and this can help you rank higher on the search engines for that particular keyword phrase.

3. Pay attention to your first paragraph. For best results place your keyword phrase at the beginning of the first sentence. Now bold the keyword phrase to give additional emphasis.

4. Make good use of the body. Here you can also add a link or two to other sources.

You might link to an affiliate product you are promoting. You can also link to helpful resources that are not affiliate links and that you don't benefit from personally. Search engines like it when you do this.

5. Your closing paragraph is important too. Briefly summarise your article and add the exact same keyword phrase you used in the title and first paragraph. Here too bold it for extra emphasis.

6. All in One SEO. This is a great SEO plug-in that you are well advised to install.

Using the All in One SEO plugin you can list the title, description and keywords for every blog post that you make. The search engines will find it when you publish your blog post.

7. Use the social directories. The search engines will not regularly visit your blog unless you already receive a lot of traffic.

This is very easy to do. All you need is the title of your blog post, the description, the keywords, and the blog post URL. All you do is paste this information into the form, click submit and the information is sent to the social directories you have subscribed to.

You will increase the exposure your blog receives by implementing these blog posting tips. In time you will also generate more traffic to your blog.

Re: Best Internet Marketing Strategy - Hi David, I agree about the Blogosphere. You have a smaller group that Blog, but do so on the premise that they think they should, but have never really considered the purpose of their Blog. Then I think there are a few SEO or Internet Marketing types that see Blogging as just another link building strategy. But the largest group of Bloggers, tend to be people who enjoy writing and discussing their topics of interest. Blogging is good for link building, but the true Blogger is a breed apart from the rest. They want to dialog, to debate, to have feedback and they are very willing to link to other worthwhile conversations that are relevant to their topic. I agree with you. These group of Bloggers obviously are passionate about their writing and together, they create huge conversation trails interactive and travel from Blog to Blog. But the evidence is clear with this group that loves what they write about. With comments enabled on a Blog and having a Blog tuned to a specific purpose you already have the evidence of original Social Media.
Re: Alexa Ranking Goals - That's great GT! What method did you use to put up the Entrepreneur Blog Network in your Wordpress Blog? We're always looking for the easiest methods to help bloggers who are not techies get involved.
EvanCarmichael.com suggestion - Maybe I missed it but I would like to suggest that a Blog be created to support the Forum. The idea is that in the blog you put in snippets of some of the biggest conversations with a 'read more' link to the forum itself. Setting up the Blog and clipping some conversations onto it wouldn't take very long.
Jen's Blog - Spam protection - Jen, I like the Blog and just posted a comment to one of your articles. From my experience you need to implement some sort of SPAM capture tools. i use them on my Blog and it's been a life saver as I'm getting hit by spam atleast 5 times a day. I use Wordpress and they have plugins like Captcha and SPAM Karma installed.
