Numerous home internet business owners do not have a lot of extra money to spend on marketing. This is understandable because so many people who start a home business are doing it on a part time basis to supplement their income.

Here we discuss ways you can market an internet business using five strategies that are free or almost free.

1. Article marketing. Writing and submitting articles to online directories is a good way to drive traffic to your internet home business website.

You can write a 400 word article in about 15 to 20 minutes once you get the hang of it. Submitting your article to some of the top online article directories only takes a few minutes once you get the hang of it.

If you have a little bit of extra money you can pay a freelance writer to write articles for you. If you are willing to spend a little bit of time correcting grammar you can even outsource this overseas.

2. Blogging. This could be an excellent source of traffic for your home business as search engines love blogs.

A blog can be an excellent way to brand yourself as an expert on the niche your home business is in. A lot of people will subscribe to an RSS feed if they find a blogger they want to follow.

3. Free business cards. You can get 250 free business cards from Vista Print. You just have to pay for the shipping of the cards to get them to you.

All you need is to have your name, website address and email address printed on your cards. Hand these out as you go about your daily activities and you will generate some free traffic and create new prospects.

4. Email marketing. Building an email list will enable you to market your home business to it. You can also promote new products and opportunities to your subscribers as your business changes.

Whilst it does take some skill and effort to build your email list you'll find many good ways to do this on the internet. One of the most effective ways to generate new subscribers is to promote landing pages.

5. Traffic exchanges. Whilst clicking on ads is not very exciting, it does buy you impressions on the opportunity you are promoting. You can save yourself some time by purchasing traffic clicks which are relatively cheap.

These are several ideas on how to market an internet business when you are working with a tight budget. If you are willing to invest a little bit of time you can compensate for your lack of money.
