Do You Know If a Work at Home Data Entry Job is Really For You

Data entry workers either enter information into computer programs or web forms. The data to be entered may come in several different forms such as re-entering information from spreadsheets into other types of software programs, typing names and addresses, or inputting number sequences, letters, or other characters to build a computer program.

Helpful Qualifications for Data Entry Work at Home

If you are interested in performing this type of work from home, first of all you will need to be a fast, accurate typist. The ability to stay focused is also very important, since entering the wrong information could be costly to the company that hired you to do the work being performed.

Someone that works from home doing data entry type work would be well advised to take regular breaks to give your eyes and your hands a rest. Make sure you sit up straight, with your feet flat on the floor while you are working. Your keyboard should be ergonomically placed so that it is comfortable for you; you don't want to have to be reaching forward to find the keys.

How to Find Data Entry Jobs That Can Be Done At Home

You can find work at home jobs by contacting various companies in your area and asking them whether or not they employ home workers to perform these types of duties and, if so, offer your services to them. Once you find a potential client, you will want to ask if you can send them your resume and your rate information. The company may need workers but may not have current openings at the time. Be sure to keep good records of the name and phone number corresponding to the person you was speaking with. Additionally, make sure you follow up with them in a few months to see if their needs have changed or not.

If you have previous experience in this field, why not contact a former employer to see if they would be willing to give you some home based assignments that you could do for them? This suggestion will work if you left your previous position on good terms.

Another good option would be to visit one of the freelance bidding sites online where clients post opportunities for data entry work. You may be required to pay a fee to sign up for this type of web site. Another way these sites work is that there is no fee to sign up, but the site owners deduct a certain percentage of your earnings as their fee. If this is the case, make sure that the quote to post for the job takes this fact into account.

You may also want to consider joining a reputable work at home data entry program. This is where you would pay a small one time fee for a lifetime membership to a program. The owner of the program has probably compiled a list of legitimate companies in their member's area that are in need of home based workers. Their member's area most likely will offer you some helpful training too. This may be the best option for those that are just starting out in this field of work.

You can certainly spend a lot of time browsing the web looking for legitimate companies that hire people to work at home. There are definitely some good opportunities available, but like always, when you are looking for work online, beware of the many scams out there.

By following these suggestions, you can find legitimate data entry work you can do from home. Just do your homework and research any potential employer or opportunity thoroughly before you start.

Re: Trade Shows - Are They Worth It? Re: Trade Shows - Are They Worth It? - HI, I have used trade shows (not participated) to collect potential clients. For example, the Home & Garden Industry is extremely behind the time in regards to their websites. I attended an Home & Garden Expo in Denver and collected all the companies contact information. I plan on cold calling & mailing information to each business. It also gave me time to research the industry more, talk directly to the owners in many cases, and learn more about what they need. Jeff
