Great Jobs for Stay at Home Moms

Are you a looking for a stay at home mom job but you don't know what kinds of work are available to you? If you want to be earning while caring for your children, here are some options for you to consider:

Medical Coding and Billing

Medical coders go over medical charts to determine what services were performed by doctors and what the purpose of these services were. They assign codes to these items according to a standard list so the doctor can prepare a bill for insurance companies or Medicare/Medicaid. Medical billers prepare and submit claims for payment on the doctors' behalf.

If you have a background in either of these occupations, you may be able to work from home. Two options for finding employment are to submit an application to an online billing company or start your own business performing these services. Mothers who are currently performing these types of duties in an office might want to approach their employer about telecommuting on a part-time basis, leading to a full-time telecommuting position later on.

Sales and Customer Service Representatives

Telemarketing sales is another option stay at home moms who want to earn an income. You can get paid to call potential customers to set up appointments for a sales representative to visit later on. Other companies have opportunities for home workers to call customers to sell products or services over the phone.

Some companies hire home-based workers to answer incoming calls from customers wanting to place orders or who have questions. Other opportunities for customer service reps working from home might involve responding to customer questions by e-mail. If this type of work interests you, you may be able to create a job for yourself by contacting small business owners in your community to see if they would like someone to call clients to remind them of appointments.

Party and Event Planning

If you are creative and have a flair for organization, then you may want to consider launching your own party and event planning business. You could choose to focus your efforts on a specific niche market, such as kids' parties, corporate events, or weddings, or try to attract a more general clientele.

To get started in this area, start by offering to plan parties for friends and family members. This is a great way to get referrals to other potential clients. Have a supply of business cards printed, and hand them out freely. Flyers are another way to advertise your party or event planning business.

It is possible for stay at home moms to earn an income. If none of these suggestions appeal to you, use your imagination to come up with alternative suggestions that fit in with your skills and interests.

Re: Trade Shows - Are They Worth It? Re: Trade Shows - Are They Worth It? - HI, I have used trade shows (not participated) to collect potential clients. For example, the Home & Garden Industry is extremely behind the time in regards to their websites. I attended an Home & Garden Expo in Denver and collected all the companies contact information. I plan on cold calling & mailing information to each business. It also gave me time to research the industry more, talk directly to the owners in many cases, and learn more about what they need. Jeff
Re: What If Steve Jobs Hadn't Returned To Apple In 1997? Re: What If Steve Jobs Hadn't Returned To Apple In 1997? - Thanks for sharing with us Yinko. Steve Jobs is definitely a visionary. Not only his products are innovative in a technological sense, but he's managed to turn a tech-company's products into a lifestyle.... a lifestyle!! [quote:zfqoq43n]Fast Forward to today. Apple has the sexiest products in the business: iMacs, Macbooks, iPhones, iPods and more.[/quote:zfqoq43n] I think not only tech would be different (music players and phones), but ways we can think of marketing and branding. What Steve Jobs did was of course no easy task for the smaller businesses, but he did start somewhere. What I did not know was that Apple is worth about as much as Google. How do you think Apple accomplish what they did? In terms of strategy wise? If you could advice Steve on one thing, what would it be?
