Hiring Tips for Data Entry Job Applicants
Hiring Tips for Data Entry Job Applicants
1.Brush up on your skills
While data entry can be done by most people, it is still a relatively small amount of people who can do it well. You'll find that you'll need to be able to type quickly and accurately and that you should also be adept at using most if not all of the Office suite. Make sure that you are at least conversant with the whole thing, but word processing and spreadsheet familiarity is a must. Similarly, make sure that you have a working knowledge of computers.
2.Talk with everyone.
Don't think of time spent talking with people in the field as time wasted. You'll find that time that is spent networking can be very valuable in terms of what you learn and what jobs you can pick up. Remember that you should always be polite, and that you should keep in mind that gossiping about bad employers is usually not a good idea. Take the time to give out information that you think is useful, and trust that you'll get the same in return.
3.Know what you are worth
Take the time to make sure that you know what your skills are worth per hour. Often, you'll find that you need to bid on a job; someone will post a job that they need to get done, and you will need to bid for it. You'll find that this is a good way to get business, but that you are also in competition with other people interested in data entry work. Never bid anything that is not a fair price for the work; not only are you selling yourself short, but you are also making business more difficult for other freelancers!
4.Do your research
Who has the best rates and who has the best projects? Are they a reputable company to work with, and have people been happy with the work that they have gotten? Never sign on with someone to do even a small amount of work until you have checked them out. Doing this will save you a great deal of time and effort.
