The first thing you will need to do is to build a website - you don't need to be a computer whiz to do this. There are plenty of tools and templates out there to help you build your own website and they are quite reasonable price-wise.

You can make a website about whatever interests you - a hobby, a favorite subject from college, whatever you are passionate about and knowledgeable in. So how can this make you money? Having a website is how to make money from affiliate products!

You can sign up as an affiliate with a merchant who is selling a product; there are many affiliate programs out there to get involved in, you can easily find a product or service which is relevant to your interest. The way this works is that you place a link to the merchant's website on your own - each time someone clicks that link to visit the merchant's site and makes a purchase, you will receive a commission for that sale.

Naturally, the next thing you will need to do is to get more visitors to your website. One of the ways which you can do this is to write content which people will find interesting and establish you as an expert in your field. People are much more inclined to purchase a product or service which carries the endorsement of someone who knows their topic.

You can also write articles and submit them to some of the many article directories on the web. Each of these will have a link back to your website and these articles may be picked up and published on other sites - each of these placements is an opportunity for you to get visitors. Additionally, the more links there are out there on the web to your site, the better your page will do in search engine rankings. This in turn means more traffic - and more profits for you.

There are pros and cons to Affiliate Marketing, just as there are to any business. As has been suggested, he best policy is to proceed with caution and do some research before jumping in. As Carol has recommended, this topic thread in the EvanCarmichael.com forum is the ideal place to ask questions and seek further input on available Affiliate Marketing programs. If a person is serious about building an online business and is interested in Affiliate Marketing plans, they should approach the process as they would any other form of business. Re: Affiliate Marketing - Open for Discussion - You made some very good points here Jeff and I agree with you, Affiliate Marketing should not be something that you concentrate all your efforts into. As i said earlier I have learned a lot with Affiliate Marketing and continue to do so, and it has helped me tremendously to understand what I am going to have to do in my chosen niche(s). Re: Which would you start: a Blog or Online Community? - It is a difficult decision to make. Lets start it this way - What are you more interested in? Money? or Friends? or Both? If its purely Money, then Blog might be an appropriate answer. But consider this - It will be people (visitors) that will bring traffic to your blog and then Money will follow. This will be possible after a time and during this time it will be your friends who will be the starters. If you are looking for friends only, then its true that not many will be interested in knowing how you have beaten them in the game or the other way round. So it will be preferable to have a Forum where they can share ideas with you and others. But you can share your insider knowledge with them and invite comments from your Blog. You can also put up information on what others (including your friends) don't know about Tennis. The blog you create can provide News, Inside Information and also Techniques that can be used by the new entrants in the world of Tennis.
