The Many Benefits Of Working From Home

A new breed of entrepreneurs was born with the coming of the personal computer in the early eighties. They do not travel to an office for work, do not dress in business attire, nor follow the 9 to 5 routine. They are the home based workers. With the rapid progress in the fields of computer science, telecommunication, and internet, the number of these home based workers have been growing with each day.

This has resulted in the elimination of the physical limits of working from home. Changes within the corporate structure due to downsizing, farming out and business process outsourcing have also made telecommuting a more viable option. Each day more and more people become a part of the telecommuting network of workers and gain satisfaction from their work and lives.

Here are some reasons why working from home is more preferable to people:

1. Telecommuting makes you your own boss and frees you from office politics. You do not have a nagging senior breathing down your neck all the time. Furthermore, you may wear whatever you like to work.

2. When you work from home you save more since you are not spending time and money in commuting to work. You are also free from endless traffic congestions.

3. When you are working from home, you have all the time to set up your own income generating opportunities apart from your job responsibilities.

4. You do not have to maintain and operate a separate business location. This saves time and expenditure.

5. A home business has tax advantages. You can deduct a part of your operating and depreciation expenses on your home as legitimate business expenses.

6. You can spend quality time with your family. Since you are your own boss, you can schedule and reschedule your working hours according to your convenience.

7. When you operate your own business you gain a firsthand experience on various areas such as research, promotion, marketing and sales. You also need not leave your present job if your home based business does not interfere with it.

8. Home based businesses offer creative opportunities. Be creative with your choice of products and services. It is about providing the right service at the right time.

9. A home based business gives you control of your life. Your success is in your total control. You are not subject to constant assessment by your boss. You work in a tension free environment.

10. Erase your retirement blues with a home based business. The fear of what you'll do when you retire is erased when you build your own business. Even if it becomes a part time effort, your satisfaction of having a business will fill your days of retirement. The fact that you are an independent entrepreneur will give you a sense of pride.

These are only a few reasons why you should start running your own business. Rather than sweating away on a 9 to 5 job, you have the option of spending invaluable time with family and friends and at the same time, earn enough to live satisfactorily.

Working for yourself means you are investing in your own future, not someone else's, although there is value in working for someone else first to gain experience and confidence. Working for yourself does not automatically mean success, fame and fortune. For most entrepreneurs, it takes much work and dedication to get to the point of financial success and comfort - sometimes years. But the benefit is, again, you know you are investing in yourself and building equity for your own future. GT :-]
Re: Trade Shows - Are They Worth It? Re: Trade Shows - Are They Worth It? - HI, I have used trade shows (not participated) to collect potential clients. For example, the Home & Garden Industry is extremely behind the time in regards to their websites. I attended an Home & Garden Expo in Denver and collected all the companies contact information. I plan on cold calling & mailing information to each business. It also gave me time to research the industry more, talk directly to the owners in many cases, and learn more about what they need. Jeff

Re: When do entrepreneurs retire, if ever? Re: When do entrepreneurs retire, if ever? - Entrepreneur don't retire, they die on the job. It is his passion and what he enjoys doing. Rubert Murdock is 77 years old and he is still working. He said he would die fast if he stop working. Working had become his life, joy and passion
