Top 10 Easy Home Businesses: Which Businesses Can You Start With The Least Amount Of Cash Investment

Many home businesses fail because owners put too much money into their start-up costs, only to see no returns. Owners also fail to do enough research on the always-changing economic demands of consumers.

The following businesses are the top ten home businesses that are the least costly to establish. For each of them, the only costs lie in marketing, which may be very small indeed if owners rely on Internet marketing.

1) Daycare centers. The only costs to starting up your home daycare business is childproofing your home and making it as clean as possible. You may also have to purchase food and drinks for "snack times," sleeping mats for "naptimes," craft products, and other child-friendly paraphernalia. You will also have to register for a state license before you open your home daycare, and prepare for a rigorous background check. Check your state's regulations on home daycare centers before you proceed with your home daycare center.

2) Freelance writing. If you are a good writer, you can make a high amount of money with zero start-up costs. First, you have to find freelance marketplaces where you can bid on assignments (quoting how much money you want per word). Keep in mind that if you have no previous writing experience, you may first write for very little money. However, this will change as you take on more assignments and show employers a fuller portfolio.

3) Accounting. If you have previous experience as an accountant, you can easily transfer your business to your home. This usually works best if you already have a loyal client base. As for costs, it's likely you will have to purchase your own accounting software, such as QuickBooks, and install a separate business phone line.

4) Blogging. You can earn steady money through blogging, by linking up with affiliates and other Internet marketing products. It often costs no money to start a blog.

5) Life coach. Life coaches are increasing in demand as more people change careers. Consider this job if you have high knowledge of careers and career match-making tools.

6) Cleaning service. If you enjoy cleaning, you can make thousands of dollars per year by cleaning other homes or offices. The money you spend on cleaning products or equipment will quickly disappear as your clients increase.

7) Tutoring. Many children and teenagers have difficulty with a certain school subject. Use your expertise of English or math to earn money as a tutor.

8) Dog-sitter. Many people are concerned about leaving their dogs at home while they're at work. If you have a spacious home and a large, fenced-off yard, consider a career as a dog-sitter.

9) Gift-baskets. Today, more people are dining out less but are spending money on lavish gift baskets containing edible or inedible goods. You may have to spend quite a bit of money on decorating or cooking materials, depending on your business.

10) Sewing services. Sewing is no longer a widely taught skill. Many people, however, still want a say in their clothing and are happy to pay a tailor to do alterations. If you have sewing materials and know-how, start marketing yourself as a tailor and get ready to have a full appointment roster.

Re: Most and Least Profitable Businesses to Start Re: Most and Least Profitable Businesses to Start - I can say something about the "Least Profitable Businesses to Start" when someone thinks about creating a product before knowing what the market really wants. This happens more often than people realize. People often get trapped into coming up with something it might work but if the market doesn't want that kind of stuff, no matter how innovative the idea may be, it'll turn bad. Like I might be able to come up a way to "... store all of my spam emails into one junk box and keep it stored on the web forever!" -- hey, who wants that kind of stuff.

Re: Starting customized giftware... Re: Starting customized giftware... - Starting off with a Customized Gift is definitely a great idea. But you have not mentioned anything about what is or are the products that your organization is into. You have also not mentioned what is the target market or who your customers are. But it needs to be mentioned that whom you want to give the gift. There are two different categories of people who visit you. One category is those who are not much interested to buy. They visit the store for inquisitiveness or finding out what you have to offer them. These people can be given some smaller tokens. The other category is of those who buy from you are your real customers and you can give them gifts. The best gift after the sales will definitely be the after sales support and customer services. But these are in the longer run to retain the customers. You can start off with giving some percentage extra depending on what you have to offer. How about Discounts or different Gifts in lieu of purchase of X Amount, Y Amount...
