Online Business Multiple Disciplinary Skills Required

Online Businesses, unlike many on-site businesses, require entrepreneurs to not only have a background in business, but also computers. Yes, on-site businesses function on computer systems, too, but they don’t rely solely on computer technology for their operation. No matter how shrewd or savvy an entrepreneur may be, if s/he doesn’t have a strong grasp on how computer technology works regarding e-commerce; the utilization of marketing strategy through online systems; hypertext languages; a knowledge of other forms of software, such as Adobe, Flash and Java; and other essential aspects of business networking, the online business is sure to fail.

This is why a whole new type of business study has emerged in recent years: Online business. Yes, double majors in Computer Science and Business would prepare those who wish to primarily work online, but business schools now have incorporated a computer-oriented dimension to their programs on all levels, not only because computer technology has become an important integration in society in general, but also because online businesses, revolving around e-commerce, have become a prominent and necessary community in the overall scheme of global business altogether. It is crucial for all business students to know about computer technology, whether they intend to eventually work online or not. Many on-site businesses today are also available online, so Internet interaction is inevitable for everyone involved in business.

As it stands now, any business person who is unable to maneuver successfully through online communities is likely already destined to fail. Such graduates from Business schools are arguably incomplete in their learning.

Those who wish to set up their own business site must know how to establish and work through online banking systems; download software an files essential for business site management like templates and tutorials, upload files, such as image files; moderate forums for technical support; integrate registration and merchandise ordering software for interactive purposes; write in basic HTM, HTML, PHP and/or other hypertext languages; incorporate clipart and icons applications as necessary; and effectively initiate advertising and other marketing strategies. Conducting online business is much different than offline because the community in which it thrives operates according to its own distinct set of rules and mannerisms. Being able to maneuver through the landscapes constructed by such distinctions with ease and to one’s own advantage will lead to success in that community. This is even true for the Internet.

It can also be argued these days that those who learn about online business first are likely the more valuable because of their technical capabilities. Computer technology is just as appreciatively vital and important in business as it is in Computer Science, and every single business, whether online or offline, will be looking for those with such experience, inclusive and/or aside from any academic achievements. Anyone in business having both academic degrees and experience with Internet technology are understandably most ideal.

Online marketing is the best way to market any business.[/quote:428owzbi] B2B = Business to Business - You are marketing to other businesses. B2C = Business to Consumer - You are marketing to consumers.

Re: Subject line Etiquette Re: Subject line Etiquette - [quote="jvprosperity":b50c4a20]Another email rant: Is there some place on the internet that outlines proper "Subject line" headings? There mus be a system out there that people use to be more efficient email senders. Not everything that comes into my mail box requires my immediate attention. I would love to educate myself and the people who send me emails on proper subject lines. Maybe something like: "Urgent Review: <<Title of document>>" "Decision Required: "<<Subject matter>>" just something for me to quickly scan the subject lines and decide which ones need my immediate attention. Anyone know of such email standards that exist out there?[/quote:b50c4a20] The only messages I get that say Urgent or Decision Required etc are spam. I tell people to put something relevant to their business with me in the subject line - this is especially important for the people who fall into my junk mail. Chris

The Best Business Books Ever: The 100 Most Influential Business Books You'll Never Have Time to Read - this is a fascinating book about the history of Business theory, and I'd recommend it to anybody. 2. The Big Book of Small Business: You Don't Have to Run Your Business by the Seat of Your Pants, by Tom Gegax. Ditto. 3. PADI: The Business of Diving Book Okay, so this book won't be of use to anyone who doesn't want to start a scuba store, but I did, and this book was of course invaluable to me in reaching that goal.
Business Coaching Internship Review Business Coaching Internship Review - I joined in during the first phase of the internship and at this point we are committed to doing research and development of RSC Business Group operating in Toronto. RSC Business Group already has products and services in Coaching Small businesses in Los Angeles but we didn't want to assume that the same products were wanted and needed in the Toronto market. Our goal at this point is to commit to interviewing 1000 business owners to capture this data. Through the teleconference internship I've been involved in we've been focusing on Communication Skills and on active listening which are practiced when we conduct our interviews and Coach our clients when they come on board. This is a lot harder than it sounds! Part of the internship is also creating the Toronto RSC Business Group's departments, job descriptions, Marketing and Communication plans etc that a business owner would create for their own company. This trains us in the way we would coach a company as well. The internship is phased in two parts and there is compensation plan involved as well for the clients you personally bring in. These clients are coached directly by Robert Chun as you begin but you are given a chance to learn his techniques. I haven't gone through this experience yet though. It's hard to explain Robert Chun's method of Coaching as it happens at a psychological level in his ability to listen and question the person being coached into the next steps they need to take. The Teleconferences are 2 hours long but it's very interactive. If you have a desire to explore this area of Business I'd recommend contacting Vwodek listed above and get invited to a Coaching Conference call. You can decided then if it's for you. Note: it is a commitment but the skills you walk away with whether you plan on working with RSC Business Group or not is invaluable.
