1. Choose an opportunity to start out: This is a crucial step because choosing a bad opportunity will cause you to lose more time and your hard-earned money. It also makes you lose the belief in others legitimate home-based business opportunities, which really help you make the kind of money that you are finding. Fortunately, there are two criteria in choosing an Internet home based business opportunity.

- Does it give you the full marketing training courses which show you what internet marketing is and how it works.

- Which kinds of income you will make. It is very good if an opportunity provides you with the type of residual income, which is the income you get month after month.

2. Registering a domain:

To start an Internet home based business opportunity, you have to own a domain name. It just takes you five minutes to register one. However, there are some points you have to keep in mind in choosing a domain.

Firstly, the domain name should include the main keyword related to the theme of your website. For example, if your site is about the shoe for golfers, the domain name should include keyword 'shoe' or 'golfer' or both.

Secondly, it has to be short, easy to remember and easy to type in the address bar.

Finally, it should not contain hyphen because a domain name filled with hyphens makes it look unprofessional.

3. Registering a hosting account:

A hosting account will determine your site is down or up. So, you have got to carefully choose a web host company to go with. Below are some things you should bear in mind when choosing a web hosting company.

Firstly, choose a web host which is fast and reliable. To do so, you should check to see if they have a track record of high uptime rate. This rate should be 98% or higher.

Besides, a web host also needs to load quickly because if it is not, you will be lost a lot of visitors. Visitors nowadays are in hurry. They just give you several seconds to show them your website so the faster your website loads, the more potential customers you get.

Secondly, good support is also another important thing that you have to keep in mind when choosing a web host company. You are hard to know what will happen in the following days. Consequently, you have got to make sure that the hosting company can give you the help when you need. Check them to see if they are competent for technical works. Send them emails to get to know how long they answer your emails.

Lastly, choose a web host based on your needs, not based on price. There are lots of hosting companies just charge you a fee of under $4 per month to host your website. However, if you choose a web host because its price is too cheap, you will get a lot of troubles. For example, you want to install a tracking script, which allows you to know information about the visitors coming to your site, but you will not be able to do that because most of web host companies don't allow you to install scripts.
