Public speaking is one of the best ways to have an unlimited supply of free leads for any business. It doesn’t matter if you are a department store, or a network marketing company becoming a free speaker or staging your own public events will generate business for you and generate FREE leads.
Do you hate to speak in public? If I know you, you have probably been speaking fluently since about the age of 3, so getting in front of an audience just takes practice. If you are presenting live sales demonstrations you are already public speaking. If you do not have more leads than you can use, then you really deserve to take advantage of public speaking as a lead generation factory. When you start talking to small clubs and groups you will find that one in ten at the meeting or gathering will have an interest in your product, service or opportunity.
What shall I talk about? Just write out three snappy titles for your talk. Think about your passions, your business, hobbies, and skills and pick three areas or topics to write a title for. Write out 3 snappy titles and start making calls. Here are examples of three snappy titles:

You can find non-profit organizations in the phone book or go to the Chamber of Commerce and buy the non-profit club/organization book that they have. The York, PA Chamber has a 2 inch thick book and includes everything from the tropical fish club to the American Cancer Society. When you start to call the organizations, you will get passed around a lot, and sooner or later you will hook up with someone who is ready to make a decision. You may be asked to send a letter. Usually when you make 20 calls you will schedule a commitment. As you make a few calls you will become more experienced in what will be asked of you and how to handle yourself.
Offer the organizations the opportunity for a free speaker for their meeting and the opportunity to have a fund-raiser event with your company. I recommend that you make a commitment to make 5 amount of calls a day. When you make 5 calls a day, it will only be 4 days until you schedule your first commitment. It is important that the number of calls you decide to do in a day is something you can realistically be consistent with on a long term basis. Sticking with it long term is better than doing a bunch of calls and stopping.
A commitment to this project of at least 6 months will assure that you will never hurt for business again. You may actually get to the point that your calendar is so full of speaking engagements and your regular business that you will start to charge the organizations for your presentation. Now you are getting PAID for finding FREE leads. You can beat that, can you?
Free public speaking is how I filled my direct sales calendar to the point of always having more business than I could handle. Many professional public speakers, including myself, got started in their speaking careers in this way as well. This is a sure way to find unlimited free leads and it may develop into an additional steam of income, then instead of free leads you will be getting paid-for-free-leads! Wow that cool!
