It is because in this business, there are no bosses to order the employees around. There are no deadlines to meet and no clutter of work to do. However, Internet based affiliate marketing is a very competitive business. There are qualities you need to have to be able to stand out among the rest and propel yourself forward.

The first quality is willingness to learn and of being trained.

Stepping on unfamiliar field can be frightening if you are not properly equipped. You might get lost amidst a jungle of the unknown. It is important to learn the trick of the trade. Your willingness to know it all will give you advantages in the business more than you could ever imagine.

The second quality is willingness to invest time and effort.

It takes time to build a business. Your success will not come overnight. Several months might pass without any apparent results. It is critical for you who already have your foot in the business to hold on and wait. It is this quality that would save you from giving up after investing much of yourself in the business.

The third quality is self-determination.

To succeed in Internet based affiliate marketing field, you must have the ability to push yourself ahead. Never give up is a quality every affiliate marketer should have. The ability to motivate yourself into climbing greater heights is an ability that would actually take you there.

The forth quality is discipline.

Because you work by yourself with no bosses around or any deadline to meet, it is very easy to get distracted. You need to train yourself to work everyday with all the energy you can manage. By doing this, you are closer to achieving what you have started.

The fifth quality is optimism.

Negative attitude and rumors should not discourage you from pursuing your goal. Neither should anyone influence his attitude toward his business. Once you are in it, you must be in charge of your business and conquer your spirit.

The ingredients to success in Internet based affiliate marketing are diverse. However, the most important ingredient you need lies within yourself. Affiliate marketing is all about putting your fate into your own hands. The desire to pursue your dream will allow you to continue your journey to success.

There are pros and cons to Affiliate Marketing, just as there are to any business. As has been suggested, he best policy is to proceed with caution and do some research before jumping in. As Carol has recommended, this topic thread in the EvanCarmichael.com forum is the ideal place to ask questions and seek further input on available Affiliate Marketing programs. If a person is serious about building an online business and is interested in Affiliate Marketing plans, they should approach the process as they would any other form of business. Research, ask questions, compare opportunities, participate in forums on online business and Affiliate Marketing. GT :-]
Re: Affiliate Marketing - Open for Discussion - Hi GT Affiliate Marketing is one of the easier ways to get started making money online, but it does take quite a bit of work before you see any great results as you have to keep promoting constantly. It does teach you one hell of a lot about all aspects of Internet Marketing though as you will need to learn how to write and submit articles, create and maintain a blog, social networking is a great help to affiliates too..the list goes on and on. Re: Affiliate Marketing - Open for Discussion - You made some very good points here Jeff and I agree with you, Affiliate Marketing should not be something that you concentrate all your efforts into. As i said earlier I have learned a lot with Affiliate Marketing and continue to do so, and it has helped me tremendously to understand what I am going to have to do in my chosen niche(s). Re: Kevin's Case Study #11 - A New Forum Category? - Hi Kevin, Like GT suggested, I also think you can add Internet Marketing as a sub category in the Marketing section and also a Social marketing as subcategory. Online marketing/internet marketing/online promotion are the same, and it will be best to use the common term - Internet marketing. I can't think about someone to moderate a Social Marketing category. We all use it, we all know how to make it work and we all have our own different experience with it.
