To succeed in internet marketing, you need to apply some strategic internet marketing techniques.

Depending on your internet marketing interests; it is a good idea to engage in a business that has a long term potential, which means that you will need to have long term goals with the business.

Strategic internet marketing is not randomly buying some cheap recycled 300,000 email leads or guaranteed hits. Strategic internet marketing is also not about pointlessly placing banner ads all over the internet. Strictly relying on free classified ads or surfing for traffic will also not bring you any guaranteed success for your internet marketing business. Yes, these marketing tactics mentioned above may work in some instances for some business types; but they can’t be considered as strategic internet marketing campaigns just by themselves.

So, what is strategic internet marketing?

Strategic internet marketing is basically about having a promotion plan that employs effective and proven marketing devices to get high converting results for your internet marketing business.

You mast use a list of selected marketing plans that are effective; and you must make sure that you perfect your skills in these strategies in order to make them effective.

The first thing you will need to do is to establish your advertising budget. You must establish how much can you spend per week or per month.

Every promotion for your internet marketing business must have a purpose and it is critical to track the results of each and every advertisement. Tracking your ads means that you can then identify the strategies that are bringing the best results for your advertising dollar. After you have identified the ads that are working, you can allocate more money towards those. By tracking your ads, you can also find out which ads are not working, or which ones need adjusting.

The key to strategic internet marketing is to constantly improve your marketing strategies, by making them more effective.

If you do not track your marketing campaigns and ads – you are simply ‘operating in the dark’ and this will not bring you any success in internet marketing. You are simply throwing your money away. So, which marketing strategies actually work?

There are proven marketing strategies that can guarantee you success in internet marketing if you apply them consistently.

1) Writing and submitting articles – A very effective and cheap way of promoting your business. Writing articles builds your credibility and also drive plenty of targeted traffic to your site, all for free.

2) Pay per Click Advertising (PPC) – PPC is the fastest way to get traffic to your internet marketing business’ website. However, to make this strategy successful and cost effective for your internet marketing business, you must educate yourself about keyword selection and bidding for your keywords.

3) Start Your Own Ezine - This is most likely the most powerful marketing technique on the internet. Having your own list of subscribers to send a newsletter to on a regular basis is a powerful way of expanding your internet marketing business.

4) Viral Marketing – Another very popular and effective marketing strategy for your internet marketing business. You can give ‘stuff’ away that people can use and put links to your web site in it. Information is a powerful tool in marketing. Give people rights to share the ‘stuff’ with their friends and email lists. In the long term, this will build a lot of traffic to your website.

5) Linking – One way or reciprocal linking is critical to your online success. This tactic takes time to develop, but it is well worth your effort. Search engines assess the importance of your web site by the number of incoming links pointing to your site. You can build one way links by articles writing and submitting and also participating in relevant forums etc.

6) Search Engine Optimization – This is another long term marketing tactic for your internet marketing business. Your pages must be fully optimized for the search engines. The most inexpensive and targeted traffic you can receive will come from high search engine rankings.

It is recommended that you will apply these effective marketing strategies if you want to succeed in your internet marketing business. Stop taking your internet marketing business aimless and start to apply a solid strategy that will guarantee you success and wealth.

It can depend on the particular industry and specifically it can depend on your competitive landscape which can vary from the low hanging fruit to highly competitive markets. I guess what I really saying is that it can vary from one scenario to a different range of strategies to another different scenario. How can you determine which is best for your ideal audience(s)? Outside of all of the technical aspects, which so many people tend to dwell on quite naturally, there is another missing element that is sometimes missing from the SEO/Social Media set of skills. That element is "creativity." So many people spend hundreds of hours trying to replicate what others are doing. Creativity is the element that will allow you opportunity to become a leader (instead of just following the crowd trying to copy everyone else.) True creativity mixed in with your SEO strategy can position you as the leader and the next thing you know, everyone will be watching what you do and trying to follow your lead. But when you are the creator, it keeps you ahead of the game because you are growing in directions of your choosing and using your time to be productive. 2. The other element of any great Internet Marketing Strategy (outside of the technical skills and know how) deals with you delivery of information. Try to always remember that your strategies are not just there to help you pursue money and wealth, but you are writing to serve your audience. Why do people search the Internet in the first place. Often it is because they are searching or researching information based on the conditions in their lives. Consider the purpose that you write and create content and ensure you are creating the type of useful, helpful and engaging content that satisfies the reason someone chose to search in the first place. Remember that running a business is about making a profit, but even more important to remember is that life is about serving your readers and life is about helping people. Money comes and goes and everyone needs it to live. But people are eternal and how we care about our customers and readers will be evident in your work, whether you realize it sooner or later. Instead of going after the one hit type of sale or service, build within your Web strategy one of the most powerful strategies that can be built. I am referring to building clients for life by remembering that the Internet is not much different than the real world, or it does not have to be if you focus on building relationships using the World Wide Web. Online marketing/internet marketing/online promotion are the same, and it will be best to use the common term - Internet marketing. I can't think about someone to moderate a Social Marketing category. We all use it, we all know how to make it work and we all have our own different experience with it.

The one thing I might add for clarification to readers is on point number 4 concerning "dominating" search results. I always like to clarify the importance of dominating for a variety of well researched keyword phrases that ideally target your ideal buying audience. Sometimes people misunderstand and think the objective is too dominate all top 10 spots for the same keyword. The reason this is not wise is that anyone successfully dominating all top 10 spots may actually be reported to Google Abuse because the purpose of a search engine is to display a variety of choices. Competitors can become quite upset with a company who is dominating all top 10 spots for the same phrase. I realize you know this already, but just thought I'd throw it in for anyone new to SEO. A better way to "dominate" is for a variety of very well researched phrases to pull in multiple audiences of readers. Great post Jenny. Thanks
Internet Marketing Conference on SLife - I've been trying to log in but it keeps crashing.. anyways.. a friend of mine in BC plans on holding Internet Marketing Conferences on SecondLife and have the same top internet marketers that would normally be in Live Internet Marketing conference speak. Income will be generated from admission charges, product sales during breaks, sponsor tables, etc etc.. Just to get the ideas flowing in your head that anything you can do in the real world can be replicated in SL. There is no planned date as of yet for this conference.
