The 7 Best Strategies to Get Traffic

Traffic, traffic, traffic, every internet business needs it, so few actually get it. If you could use a traffic boost then consider the following seven strategies to get traffic. These are by far some of the best techniques out there. The number one way to get free traffic is with an affiliate program. Set up an affiliate program that provides a number of quality tools. Get joint venture partners to promote it for you.

2. Do integration marketing- that is, contact people and ask them to promote your business in their newsletter.

3. Publish articles and press releases out on the internet. Not just one or the other, but both. A good press release can get you a top ten listing very quickly. The trick is to get listed into Google news.

4. If you are in the business opportunity crowd, get involved in traffic exchanges such as traffic swarm, instant buzz and list.com, these offer you free resources to traffic.

5. Fill up dead real-estate. Think of when you are sitting at a restaurant, the place mat in front of you will usually have an ad of some sort. It may be a service for a salon, or even a retail store. The same goes with a sports game when you see all those ads around the players. This is referred to as dead real-estate. Companies figure this person is just sitting here why not advertise. This concept applies to your website. There are certain places on your site where you can monetize. For example, when someone subscribes to your newsletter, many times there is a default page. It could be the page that says, "Thanks for subscribing please check your e-mail for your confirmation notice". This is a great page to advertise on. They're already at your site, give them an offer.

6. Tell a friend. When a browser decides to subscribe, rather than having them leave immediately to the home page or wherever, put a "tell a friend page" in front of them. It works like this, "Here is a $57 product, yours free when you refer four friends to sign up". If that person sends four people, that's five subscribers that took no work on your part. All you did was ask one subscriber to refer four new ones.

7. Adopt a web 2.0 strategy. Websites are no longer relying solely on advertising to get the word out. Create a small report or an e-book for your visitors to download and pass out to others. This is called viral marketing. Viral marketing is one of the fastest ways to generate traffic and build your list.

Don't always look into trying to get traffic, look at return on investment. One of the best places to look at return on investment is Google Adwords, it's instant and you can constantly tweak it and improve it. In addition you reap the benefits for years and years.

Always approach any strategy with the attitude of longevity. It's not about getting people to your website. It's about getting the "right" people to your website.

Re: Books for Business Owners Re: Books for Business Owners - Hi DougSchadle, Thanks for sharing your favorite business book with us! A good book I'm reading now is "Maximum Achievement: Strategies and Skills That Will Unlock Your Hidden Powers to Succeed" by Brian Tracy as it was a birthday gift from a friend. Tracy's book is helpful in identifying what's important in your life and then setting an action plan to achieve it.
Re: Who Said Twitter Doesn't Work...? Re: Who Said Twitter Doesn't Work...? - Hi Trent, I'd have to agree. I never intended to get deep into Twitter and rarely ever get on. Traffic is very minimal as you said, and I doubt that I'll ever make money with it unless I start getting paid to Tweet, and even then I'm not sure if that's worth it. Haven't looked into that yet, but it's definitely not even close to my main method of marketing for my business.
