AdSense Privacy Policy: Is Your Website Compliant?

The Google AdSense Privacy Policy (GAPP) is actually a list of policies and guidelines that govern the activities of all websites that have AdSense accounts and display AdSense ads.

AdSense account applicants are required to read and agree to the GAPP before their applications will be reviewed for acceptance. When an AdSense account is approved, it is with the understanding that the account holder understands and will adhere to the policies outlined in the GAPP.

Some Internet Marketers may skim over the policies and therefore may not fully understand the complete guidelines or how close some of their website activities could be bringing them to the potential loss of their Google AdSense (GA) account.

There are some very specific guidelines that marketers need to be aware of, including a requirement that GA account holders post clear privacy policies on their websites. Is your website compliant with this rule? Do you have a privacy policy posted on your website?

The guidelines also prohibit certain activities and marketing programs on any websites that have GA ads. Ignorance of the policy is apparently no protection from the penalty of being banned from ever again having a GA account. They say it is the responsibility of every website owner with GA ads on their site(s) to review the GAPP guidelines regularly for updates and changes. And, apparently, the GAPP can change often.

All GA sites are eventually reviewed to insure that they comply with the GAPP. Sites that are not in compliance get banned. There are no warnings.

Marketers are advised to visit the GA site to review the complete policies.

Your Website Privacy Policy

Your GAPP-compliant privacy policy must be on an independent page on your site. The link to that page is commonly placed in the footer of your web pages and the link should point directly to the privacy policy page with no redirects, pop-ups or pages in between. Be sure that if you ever make changes to your website footer, your privacy policy link remains in place.

You should be aware that third party ads on your website must also be in compliance with the GAPP or you risk being penalized.

Additionally, be careful that your newsletters and email promotions that link back to any of your websites that have GA do not contain non-compliant promotions or this could possibly get your GA account banned.

Also, be alert to old forgotten articles, pages and other materials that may still be sitting on your domain, but may not be compliant with GAPP guidelines. Again, ignorance or oversight is not a defense. You must be diligent in your awareness of GAPP and in the operation of any sites that contain Google AdSense.

The Google AdSense Privacy Policy is very specific. Is your website compliant? It is in your best interests to review the GAPP and make certain you are covered.

Re: From $0.30 to $300 / Day on Google AdSense Part 1 - How To M Re: From $0.30 to $300 / Day on Google AdSense Part 1 - How To M - Hi Jeff - I`ll likely get into 3rd party advertising later on in the series but what I recommend doing is putting AdSense up as your baseline to test with. Get a sense over a couple of months as to how much you can make from that ad space. Remember that Google takes a percentage of all the money you make through AdSense so it would make sense to charge a higher amount for private ad sales than you`re making through AdSense - the advertisers are paying those rates anyway. Once you know how much your ad space is worth in AdSense, offer up the space to private advertisers with a 30-100% price increase. If you don`t get any takers then you can stick with AdSense... if you do sell the spots then you`re making more than you were with AdSense so it`s worth it. I didn`t have any luck with 3rd party companies who offer to handle the sales for me. Many of them contacted me but when I told them what I made through AdSense and through my own private sales, they said they couldn`t match it. The offer sounds appealing and I was really hoping that a company could take that off my hands but it looks like I`m too well optimized at this point.
Ad Sense plug in Ad Sense plug in - [quote:3ztngbhz] I have a plugin on my computer that shows me my AdSense earnings. It logs in to update every 15 minutes and there are always changes. [/quote:3ztngbhz] I would love to have such a plug in! Where can I go to get it? Somewhere on the AdSense webpage? (I've never noticed one!)
Re: From $0.30 to $300 / Day on Google AdSense Part 1 - How To M Re: From $0.30 to $300 / Day on Google AdSense Part 1 - How To M - Thanks for sharing Alan! Testing is always key! I always recommend using AdSense as your benchmark to measure against. For my site I haven't had much success with products (my own or affiliate). For direct ad sales, sometimes I can get advertisers and charge them a premium. Other times, depending on the section, I make too much from Adsense for an advertiser to compete with. As this series continues I'll share how I've managed to make money from AdSense and hopefully it will provide some new insights for my readers.
Re: Money never sleeps Re: Money never sleeps - Well I guess it goes back to the old cliché of "don't work for money, but learn to have money working for you." However, aside from using your money to invest in things like property, stocks, etc... what are some of the other ways? I feel that the average Google AdSense user can't even make enough each month to buy a new pair of shoes. So in that respect, I wouldn't count on AdSense to help you earn more money while you sleep.
Re: Top 9 Questions For Google AdSense Answered! Re: Top 9 Questions For Google AdSense Answered! - Hi Chris - this is another question that comes up frequently and there are many misconceptions about it. The CPC is all about maximizing the return for the advertiser - you'll get a high CPC if your ads are in a competitive market, you've niched yourself out to a specific target audience, and you're delivering a high ROI for your advertisers. If you have multiple ads on the page then then Google reads from top to bottom and shows the highest bid at the top. If you have multiple ads and someone clicks on your 3rd ad then you will get less than if they click on the first ad. CTR is determined primarily by how relevant the ads are to your content, the location of your ads, and the design of your ad units. Traffic leak will occur if you have a higher CTR but it depends on what your business model is. If you're trying to make money through AdSense then it's going to come from first time, search engine visitors, not repeat visitors or people who spend a lot of time on your site. Regular visitors are ad blind and don't click on AdSense. If your only business model were AdSense then you would want a high traffic leak... as long as they're clicking on your ads and you're making money.
