How To Brand Your Home Business Online

Since marketers know that branding yourself as an expert in your field or marketing niche is important, here are a few ideas on how to brand your home business online. Branding is a natural process of business development and there are some good ways to use Social Networking to make it more personal.

Basically, there are two key aspects to branding: first, it is identifying the exact elements of your business that make it unique; second, it is publicizing and promoting that uniqueness, both in your marketing materials and in the relationships you develop with prospects, customers and other businesses.

Branding can include everything from the choice of a business name and domain name, to a company logo, your style of marketing and presentation, and as mentioned, your relationships and your presence in the social circles frequented by your prospective customers.

This article will simply give you some things to think about on how to brand your home business online.

Let’s focus on the personal, or social, aspect of branding, since this is a key element for most home business marketers. Small business operators of this nature do not have huge advertising budgets or the resources to manage massive marketing campaigns. They rely mostly on low cost methods, like Social Media marketing and activity in entrepreneur forums and other similar social sites and membership groups.

The value in joining these kinds of social communities is that you can show your personal side, and as other members get to know you, they will begin to trust you more. If you approach this with respect for the rules of the community and use it simply to demonstrate your knowledge and expertise, you will develop a positive brand for yourself and your business.

The whole purpose of social marketing is to expose your business to the world and convince your prospects that you are the best source for your products or services; that you are the preferred provider in your field or market niche.

You cannot achieve this through advertising alone because consumers know that advertising is biased in your favour and cannot always be trusted to serve their best interests.

On the other hand, when you join their social circles, show them that you are a person just like them, and provide them with free information, free insight and free solutions related to your niche and their problems, they will appreciate it and will come to trust you more.

When people trust you, they are more receptive to your product recommendations. However, you should not try to market or promote your solutions directly in the social community. That could be offensive and may be considered a breach of trust by some.

Your aim is only to establish yourself as a knowledgeable source of information, an expert in your field, and a potential source of solutions for their problems. When they come to think of you in that way, they will then be more likely to check your membership profile and click the links to your website or product pages. From there, it is up to the ‘marketing machine’ on your website to carry them the rest of the way through the sales process.

That is how to brand your home business online if you do not have a big budget for advertising and marketing. Focus on building a positive presence in a variety of social networking communities, like popular Social Media sites, friendly entrepreneur forums, and membership groups where your targeted prospects might like to hang out.
