Once your website is set up with a selection of business opportunities and some related, informative content, your very next and most important task is to start driving traffic to the site.

Most home business enthusiasts do not have a large marketing budget, so they look for low cost and no-cost ways to promote their website and attract visitors. Two of the most popular ways to drive traffic to your online home based business opportunities website are blogging and social marketing.

Blogging doesn’t have to cost you anything and if you already have a website, you can host your blog on your site, or as is the case with many of today’s online marketers, your blog and your website can be one and the same.

To use your blog to get traffic you must first begin loading it with articles and posts related directly to your niche or the theme of your website. You have to add information that will attract the attention of your desired prospects. Examine your products and your business opportunities and determine ways that they either solve problems for people, or make their lives easier. Then, in your blog posts, highlight these benefits and features.

Next, you will want to let as many people as possible know about the awesome information you have posted in your blog and that’s where social marketing comes in.

Social marketing involves becoming an active member in a few business and marketing forums and other popular social sites, like Facebook and Twitter. As a member, you should strive to become known as a source for good, beneficial marketing information. If you build your reputation as a knowledgeable and helpful member, other members will want to know more about you and will click the links in your signatures and profiles to visit your website.

Once you become a respected member of a social site, you will begin to find opportunities to share additional recommendations with other members, for example, a link to one of your highly informative blog posts. Other similar promotional opportunities may also present themselves, but avoid sounding promotional or pushy; always try to share your recommendations in a sincere and supportive way.

I just changed one of my business goals from setting up a video site on Traffic-Geyser to: "Set up a newsletter email series (let's say 10 messages) on Get Response..." I reviewed Traffic Geyser in the latest episode of "David's Den" on my blog (see sig file), included an excellent video review of Traffic Geyser by John Detlif and decided against taking that particular project any further. Still lots to get done!
