Best Tips For Writing How To Articles

Article Marketing is a popular method of business promotion, but entrepreneurs who truly want to demonstrate their expertise and build their brand should consider writing How To articles. Here are a few recommended tips for writing articles of this type.

1) Subjects for great articles of all types are endless. When writing a How To article, you must either be very familiar and confident with the subject, or you must be prepared to do enough research on the topic to equip yourself with an air of expertise. It is important to write with confidence and authority.

The purpose of a How To article is to explain or demonstrate to a reader “how to” do something. Your information must be factual and accurate and you must present the steps or instructions as clearly and simply as possible. Remember, although you may be an expert on the subject, your reader may have little knowledge about it and may not be familiar with the technical terms or any part of the process.

2) Near the beginning of your article explain what the goal is and give a brief outline of how it will be achieved. When writing How To articles that describe a hands-on project, you should inform the reader of any items they will need on hand to complete the project. This could be tools, materials or resources of any kind.

3) Once the purpose and objective has been outlined, begin an orderly step-by-step explanation of the process being covered. As mentioned, keep the explanations simple and free from technical complexity. It will be helpful to a reader if you number each step or present the steps as bullet points.

4) Review your article every few paragraphs, keeping the reader’s inexperience with the topic in mind. The topic may be second nature to you, but it could be completely new to them. Imagine doing the project for the first time yourself and explain the steps accordingly. Make certain your descriptions are clear and that you haven’t left something out that is important to a beginner.

5) If a certain stage in the process is complex, you may want to repeat the instruction, explaining it from a slightly different angle. Doing this at intervals is particularly important with longer articles to help keep the reader focused and to allow them to check their progress. Summarize what they have done up to that point, tell them what should already have been achieved, and advise them to check to make sure that everything is as it should be.

If you work through your article in this way, you should end up with a clear, concise how to article that takes the reader through each step of the project to completion. Before wrapping it up, review it a few times to make sure it is well written and the instructions are clear and complete.

6) Finish it off with a concluding paragraph that congratulates the reader for a job well done.

Marketing with articles is always a good idea, but writing How To articles takes your business branding to the next level. Your targeted audience will appreciate the knowledge and expertise you share with them.

Do your blog "write" Do your blog "write" - In regards to your question about whether to hire a copywriter, ask yourself how comfortable you are with writing the articles. Can you consistently write blog articles that people will read (there's a whole technique to blog writing, including scannability, length, using bullets, etc)? If your time is better spent doing what you're good at, and that's not writing, hire someone. Better to spend the money and have it done right than be stressing out every time you have to post!
Re: Article Marketing Re: Article Marketing - Article marketing articles are used on websites and blogs, so follow the rules for writing good web articles. Put the most important information at the top, keep sentences and paragraphs short and make good use of subheadings. And if you promise five tips, make sure that’s what you deliver. I usually start with a rough plan which outlines my main points and then I expand on each of those points in a single paragraph. I don’t make these too long, as the average article marketing article is between 250 and 500 words long.
Re: How do you get fresh ideas for work? Re: How do you get fresh ideas for work? - [quote="Anelly":10z2phe0]Thank you all.I need many ideas for writing new posts. A forced brainstorming it's a solution even if I prefer a short break.[/quote:10z2phe0] Hi Aelly, When I need a new idea for blog posts or articles I look around in forums, this is if i have time. I always save the email my affiliates send me with interesting questions and try to make an article out of them. Another tip is to find an old article you wrote: 5 tips to... or 3 steps to... and create a blog post out of each tip or step. This is one way to get 3 or 5 articles from one article. My last tip for you is to keep a stock of titles for dry days, just take one and write an article around it.
Re: Online Article Marketing - Free & Done Correctly Re: Online Article Marketing - Free & Done Correctly - Hi, I do several things with article marketing. I write my own articles, have articles written and rewrite PLR articles. If it was up to my writing ability alone I would have a hard time with 1 article a week. Rewriting PLR articles using keywords I choose is my first choice. It does take a little time to pick an article to rewrite because I want them to be topic for my website plus they need to written well. Even when rewriting articles if an article does not flow well it will take much more work to rewrite it. Many online marketers only submit their articles to a select few article directories. It works well for them. I have a dual purpose in article writing and need my articles to go to as many directories as possible. My number one purpose is to create backlinks. If I only submitted 3 articles a week to 5 directories they would not help much in creating the backlinks I need. My second purpose is to draw traffic to my site. Again, and in my opinion, if I submitted to just a handful of sites I feel I would be defeating my purpose. So I had to find a program that would submit to a lot of directories and one that also submitted to quality directories. I found what I needed with one submission service. Now each article can bring 60-70 backlinks and I see weekly visitors from several article directories in my stats. That is my article marketing strategy and it has been working for me.
Re: Nov 2 Triple Crown Leaders Re: Nov 2 Triple Crown Leaders - Hi GT, I haven't been writing articles at all lately. I plan to get back into it, but I've been getting more freelance work among other things that have taken up my time. I'll hopefully start busting out articles here soon, so we'll see.
