As affiliate, you're simply expected to post the advert of the merchant on your site. When that's done, you just wait. Once people start clicking on the merchant's advertisements, it's time for you to collect your share of the profits. Sounds easy enough, but actually it isn't.

Most affiliates earn next to nothing from the affiliate programs they belong to. However, this is primarily because they also do nothing. Affiliate marketing as the name implies, has to do with marketing. You need to market the products of the merchant to make money.
If you want to succeed as affiliate regardless of the affiliate program, you need to get up and do something. Figure out ways to promote merchants' businesses and their products effectively. What would make people click on ads or links provided by merchants? Answer this correctly and you'll be on your way to increasing affiliate sales numbers.
Don't fall into the same laid-back trap that most unsuccessful affiliate marketers do. It's the surest and quickest way to earn zero income. Go the extra mile. Take the necessary steps to transform the affiliate program into something that churns out multiple commissions. Below are several tips for realizing more affiliate checks.
1. Be affiliate product experts
Promoting merchant products is best done with personal knowledge to back it up. In order to learn more about the product you should purchase it yourself. Since you now have first-hand info using such products, you raise your credibility level with customers. You can endorse the products in ads or pen testimonials about them. However, if for some reason you can't buy the products, performing the necessary research is still important.
2. Be your own web host
If this isn't possible, at least get domain names that have easy recall and are short. You can't expect that people will remember a website with very long and meaningless domain. Nobody will drop by your site if the name is too complicated. Zero traffic means zero clicks on affiliate links.
3. Create private sites
Creating private sites and offering access to them to those who click on any affiliate adverts are also a nice touch. Visitors are often intrigued by such private Internet sites. The private sites are perfect places to push back-end affiliate goods and services too.
4. Compose affiliate advertisements yourself
Most merchants are okay with you composing and designing the ads for products they carry. Just be sure to get their permission and show them the ads prior to posting them on your website. In this way, you gain an edge over other affiliates marketing the same items.
5. Be visible
Take part in discussion boards, forums and chat rooms tied to your products. You can either join existing chats or launch new ones. Products don't have to be promoted right away, but don't pass up golden opportunities to push them occasionally. Do the same for forums and discussion boards.
6. Create newsletters or e-magazine (e-zine) articles
E-newsletters and e-zines are regular publications that seek to inform people regarding particular topics. They don't have to deliberately promote merchant products as this will only annoy and drive away subscribers faster. Be creative in subtly inserting the affiliate links and adverts in the text. Make sure that you put a sign-up form to your newsletters and e-zines at your website.
