There are few internet marketing opportunities that last year after year and affiliate marketing is one. No matter what programs, software or businesses arise, it seems as if affiliate programs continue to dominate the internet. With the proper selection of programs, you too can make a tremendous amount of money within this internet based business opportunity.

Because there are thousands of programs to choose from, it can be difficult to decipher the good from the bad. Sometimes the best way to do so is simply through trial and error, but this can be time consuming and can cost you a great deal of money. For this reason, there are certain aspects you want to look at when selecting programs for your internet based business.

First and foremost, look at the landing page or sales page. You can tell which programs are legit and which are a waste of your time based on the content and design of the page. If the page is cluttered with graphics and rambles on and on about the same points, chances are it is nothing worthwhile.

Another turnoff is if the sales page spends the entire time talking about how much money you can make, but does not say how you will make the money. It is amazing how many affiliate sites will claim you can make a six-figure income or earn thousands of dollars in the first week by working a couple of hours per day. If this were true, everyone would be jumping to start an internet based business.

A legitimate affiliate marketing program is going to be honest and upfront with you. It will state the product sold is capable of producing a mass amount of sales with the right mindset and hard work. The program should offer quality training and provide tools that can be used to better ensure success.

One of the great things about affiliate marketing is that there is no limit as to how many programs you can join. While this is nice, it is vital you stick to no more than four or five programs. What you will find is that it is impossible to succeed with affiliate programs if you have 20 or 30 because you cannot divvy your time properly. Each program requires your full attention because it is essentially like running a business at a smaller scale.

Affiliate marketing is a terrific internet based business because of the tremendous potential it has. With the proper amount of research and the right mindset, you can turn any program into a goldmine.

There are pros and cons to Affiliate Marketing, just as there are to any business. As has been suggested, he best policy is to proceed with caution and do some research before jumping in. As Carol has recommended, this topic thread in the EvanCarmichael.com forum is the ideal place to ask questions and seek further input on available Affiliate Marketing programs. If a person is serious about building an online business and is interested in Affiliate Marketing plans, they should approach the process as they would any other form of business. Research, ask questions, compare opportunities, participate in forums on online business and Affiliate Marketing. GT :-]
Re: Affiliate Marketing - Open for Discussion - Hi GT Affiliate Marketing is one of the easier ways to get started making money online, but it does take quite a bit of work before you see any great results as you have to keep promoting constantly. It does teach you one hell of a lot about all aspects of Internet Marketing though as you will need to learn how to write and submit articles, create and maintain a blog, social networking is a great help to affiliates too..the list goes on and on. Re: Affiliate Marketing - Open for Discussion - You made some very good points here Jeff and I agree with you, Affiliate Marketing should not be something that you concentrate all your efforts into. As i said earlier I have learned a lot with Affiliate Marketing and continue to do so, and it has helped me tremendously to understand what I am going to have to do in my chosen niche(s). I am also being coached by the same group of mentors as GT and we are all moving forward daily to achieve our ultimate goals. Take care, Carol

Re: Kevin's Case Study #11 - A New Forum Category? - Hi Kevin, Like GT suggested, I also think you can add Internet Marketing as a sub category in the Marketing section and also a Social marketing as subcategory. Online marketing/internet marketing/online promotion are the same, and it will be best to use the common term - Internet marketing. I can't think about someone to moderate a Social Marketing category. We all use it, we all know how to make it work and we all have our own different experience with it.
