You can get into virtually any field imaginable as long as there is public appeal. But if you really want to succeed on the internet it is worth looking into niche marketing.

With niche marketing you will target to a specific group of people and sell products that are meant for this group. Instead of presenting products to anybody and everybody, you will be focusing on a specific group of people that are actually looking for what you have to offer.

The benefit to this is that you can narrow down your marketing and focus on a smaller group of people. You may be thinking that this reduces the amount of sells you can potentially earn with a smaller marketing group. This is not the case. It just helps you not to waste your time promoting to non-targeted people who have no interest in what you are selling.

In order to get going with niche marketing there are three things you need to take care of. The first step is choosing a target market. Think about what you are interested in and what other people are appealed to at the same time. You may want to write down some ideas of things you would enjoy promoting. Then start researching the market and seeing what people are actually buying.

Once you have chosen your target market, the next step to starting an internet marketing business within a niche is selecting a product. Start thinking about the products you are going to sell or promote. If you want to start your own internet business you need to remember that you will be shipping the product and ordering them in yourself. The easier option might be to join some niche program and get a little bit more flexibility.

The last step to your niche marketing is determining how you will promote your business and product to your target market. You can use many different free methods including posting in forums, writing in blogs and writing articles. These are just a few of the many ways you can appeal directly to a specific niche.

Niche marketing is the way to go when starting an internet marketing business. It will increase your overall income online because the number of rejections is decreased. The key is finding the right market, coming up with an appealing product, and determining what the best method is to promote to your target market.

Re: How many mambers of this forum are also member of WF? - Hi Kevin, I have to agree with Tanny. All forums are unique in their own way, but doesn't mean that one is better than the other. What you might get out of one forum, you may not get from another. For instance, the WF focuses on Internet Marketing, while this forum focuses on Entrepreneurship. Each has their own set of benefits. I don't think you can really compare one to the other, unless of course they focused on the same topic. I have learned a lot from this forum, stuff I would never have gotten from the WF. With that being said, I've learned a lot from the WF, specifically since I need to know about Internet Marketing and running an online business. The addition of the Online Business forum here will help, and Jeff is doing a great job as moderator.
Re: Kevin's Case Study #11 - A New Forum Category? - Hi Kevin, Like GT suggested, I also think you can add Internet Marketing as a sub category in the Marketing section and also a Social marketing as subcategory. Online marketing/internet marketing/online promotion are the same, and it will be best to use the common term - Internet marketing. I can't think about someone to moderate a Social Marketing category. We all use it, we all know how to make it work and we all have our own different experience with it.

In the past, there's been some interest voiced about adding a "Social Media Marketing", "Online Marketing", "Internet Marketing" or "Online Promotion" category. I'll implement [u:1g2tv6tf]ONE[/u:1g2tv6tf] of those new categories, but can someone first tell me what the difference would be between the existing "Marketing" section and one of those new options mentioned above? I think in Online Marketing company online presence can be a wining factor for the success of the company.
