Pros And Cons of Email Marketing And Pay Per Click Advertising

Email marketing and pay per click advertising are very popular ways to promote internet businesses. Even though they are very different methods, you can make a lot of money with both of them. However, because of their different natures you might be more comfortable doing only one of them. Let's talk about some of the advantages and disadvantages of these promotion strategies. Hopefully they help you to decide which one is better for your abilities.

Benefits of email marketing over pay per click:

1. Email marketing is an easy process to reach a huge customer base with perfectly written sales letter. Because pay per click is based on keywords you need to do more technical research and testing.

2. With email marketing no expenses are involved (except autoresponder provider's fee, if you have one). Having a large list of subscribers allows you to start promoting your products for free. Pay per click involves expenses and you have to pay every time someone clicks your ad.

3. Sales letter sent to your mailing list is quite precise to your needs, while in pay per click advertising a small mistake in keyword selection can result in a huge wastage of your money.

4. Through email marketing you can make repetitive requests to your prospects. This is impossible when using pay per click advertising.

5. You can always immediately inform your prospects about new updates and offers of your products. This cannot be done with pay per click since your ads appear arbitrary in other people's websites.

Benefits of pay per click over email marketing:

1. Email marketing needs a database of addresses to start, whereas with pay per click you do not need any earlier contacts.

2. Response in email marketing usually takes time. Pay per click approach can give you almost instant response.

3. Testing the efficiency of your email marketing sales letters is quite time consuming. Pay per click gives you an opportunity to test different campaigns rather faster.

4. When using email marketing your branding possibilities are limited since you are visible only to your mailing list. With pay per click your presence will be displayed at various prominent places in the virtual world.

5. Email marketing is a continuous process and needs a constant approach. When your pay per click campaign is ready and well-designed, you can pretty much automate your promotion efforts.

Here were a couple of pros and cons about these two popular internet marketing methods. Guarantee of success cannot be given in either one of these methods, but when doing it properly, both of them can be extremely beneficial for your internet business.
