Social Marketing - One Important Part of a Successful Online Business

Social sites have become extremely popular today. The most popular one, Facebook, have challenged even Google in popularity. That is why these sites are also excellent places to socialize and promote online businesses. In this article we will talk about some aspects of social marketing and why it can be so important part of your total marketing mix.

Social marketing is totally different than many businesses still today think about ideal marketing. It is far less about what you know and more about who you know. For this reason, it is vital you take this opportunity to network and meet as many new people as possible. The great thing about these social sites is that you can stay connected to them well after the initial conversation as oppose to having to track them down tomorrow.

If you are going to make the most of this form of marketing, you have to be willing to open up. Internet marketing is appealing for many because they think that they can hide behind their computer and never have to talk with anyone. However, social marketing is totally opposite of that. You have to let people see the real you. Think of it as an opportunity to meet people and make new friends.

It is important that you are not trying to sell something immediately. People do not like to hear about your online business right away. They may feel that you are only trying to take advantage of them. Instead, spend some time getting to know the other person. You can ask them some basic questions about their life, what kind of hobbies they have, what they do for a living, and things like that. At some point, when you know each other better, you can start telling more about your business and how it can benefit them.

One more thing to remember is that you should take advantage of several different social sites. Getting a Facebook membership and sticking solely to this site is not going to get the job done. You should open accounts in as many popular social sites as you are able to follow on a regular basis. This will give you an opportunity to meet a lot more people who may eventually turn into customers.

There has never been a better time to have an online business than there is today. Thanks to social marketing, it has never been easier to reach your target market and meet new people. All it takes is becoming a social butterfly and having an interest in what others have to say in order to drastically increase the amount of traffic your business generates.

Kevin's Case Study #11 - A New Forum Category? Kevin's Case Study #11 - A New Forum Category? - Hi Everyone, 2009 is a new year and I'd like to create a new forum category to jazz things up! In the past, there's been some interest voiced about adding a "Social Media Marketing", "Online Marketing", "Internet Marketing" or "Online Promotion" category. I'll implement [u:1g2tv6tf]ONE[/u:1g2tv6tf] of those new categories, but can someone first tell me what the difference would be between the existing "Marketing" section and one of those new options mentioned above? Thanks
Re: Kevin's Case Study #11 - A New Forum Category? Re: Kevin's Case Study #11 - A New Forum Category? - Hi Kevin, Like GT suggested, I also think you can add Internet Marketing as a sub category in the Marketing section and also a Social marketing as subcategory. Online marketing/internet marketing/online promotion are the same, and it will be best to use the common term - Internet marketing. I can't think about someone to moderate a Social Marketing category. We all use it, we all know how to make it work and we all have our own different experience with it.
Re: Should Evan add a "Social Media Marketing" category to the f Re: Should Evan add a "Social Media Marketing" category to the f - Hi, Online Marketing would be a great title, and having sub categories would make it even better, there would plenty of categories to choose from, Social Media, SEO, Article Marketing and yes even Affiliate Marketing to name just a few, great looking site btw Jeff, take care, Carol

Re: Should Evan add a "Social Media Marketing" category to the f Re: Should Evan add a "Social Media Marketing" category to the f - [quote="BuzzAroundBooks":p78047w2]Just as an update, Evan has extended the poll's expiration date and says he'd like to see at least 25 "yes" votes before implementing the new category. Moreover, it would probably be called "Online Marketing" instead of Social Media Marketing".[/quote:p78047w2] Okay - I have a request -- can the title be changed to "Online Marketing"? The reason I'm asking is because people may not know what social media marketing is , while that would make me vote for it to learn more, but not every thinks like that. Also, online marketing could capture more attention when people spot in on the list. Shri
